Lots of folks saying that AI companies using your public content should be opt-in, not opt-out.

If you believe this to be true, you should stop using search engines immediately. That's just another co. scraping people's public data to make a product. Lots of people hate how google violates your privacy. Why should they be allowed to ingest your site content but not OpenAI?

The internet as we know it ONLY works because it's opt-out by default.

tl;dr: Marjorie Taylor Green added a major anti-trans amendment to the Health & Human Services appropriations bill, and there are similar ammendments in the children's hospitals and veterans affairs bills.

here's a list of the top domains folks have personalized filters for. You can - for example - go down the list and block all the pinterests.

Reminder: we are not "post covid". Over 8,000 people are being hospitalized for covid-19 every week in the US alone.

It continues to kill countless people. When you get it you have roughly a 1 in 5 chance of getting long covid that could last the rest of your life. If you get it again, the odds get worse.

I'm working on improving or CI speeds on #GitHub, but I'm being hampered by an #accessibility issue. Namely that i can't read the !@#$! times because no-one tested GH's UI with large fonts.

I fixed it with a user script in Tampermonkey that redefined the max-width in the container-xl class to 100% instead of its random pixel width (2nd screenshot)

ui devs: STOP USING PIXEL WIDTHS. Jebus effing Christmas. We've been saying this for over a decade.

Random thought: there's so much amazing YA fiction being created these days. I would have loved to have had it when I was young.

At the same time, i keep seeing these stories and thinking "but i want the adult version". not as in "adult fun time", but as in not dealing with high-school level emotions or problems. I'm all for simple and easy to read too, but sometimes you want the bad-ass turn of phrase that requires more than an elementary school level vocabulary.

I took my dose at 6:30 AM , went back to sleep, just getting up now 10 minutes before nine.

#ADHD brains are chemically different. Normal brains, get high or focused or whatever. I become slightly more able to find the thing I set down three seconds ago.

Voice actors bring stories to life. Computer voices destroy emotional moments and massacre the sentiment with which phrases are expressed.

I've just pushed a bunch of #accessibility changes for screen readers to the main branch of FediThready. ( It makes long texts into post sized chunks)

I've run through it with #VoiceOver and it seems ok. HOWEVER it all feels like it's "usable" instead of "good".

If there's a #a11y geek out there who uses screen readers regularly I would REALLY appreciate some suggestions on how to make this actually feel good for folks who rely on screen readers.

Minor Update re the #Accessibility tool I've been working on for a friend for whom Apple's palm rejection absolutely refuses to work.

We've prototyped the cover + hole shape over the trackpad & it got a 👍. Now I've gone back and added 4mm thick leather wrist wrests & there's an internal cable run for charging the trackpad.

the lighter colored "wood" in the picture is a magnetically attached plate that we can swap out if he / anyone else needs a different hole shape.
