Do extroverts ever like, in their peak extrovertedness, maybe at a raucous party, pause for a few seconds and think, "This is absolutely perfect. This is bliss. But this ain't how life is supposed to be lived?" Because as an #introvert that is exactly what I find myself thinking sometimes when I'm perfectly isolated watching a movie and filling the empty room with the echoes of my own laughter while munching on potato chips.

Question no. 1: Sa Pilipinas lang ba nauso yung wedding hashtags?

Question no. 2: Kelan ba yan malalaos? Cute pa sya at first, pero naging badoodles na kasi e (esp. those that sound pilit; witty hashtags should be a prerequisite)

moonwalkerwiz,
@moonwalkerwiz@mastodon.sdf.org avatar

@luthien1126 Absolutely hate it. I practically begged the wedding coordinator for us not to have one, but by now it's become more tradition than anything. I thought of the most subtle one, the least cringey, and used that for our wedding.

I haven't read this article yet. As an #introvert, I just really like the closing sentence, "Then he dropped out of society." It's poetic and would be perfect on an epitaph. "Here lies (name here). Vanguard of justice. Revered by colleagues, loved by his family. Then he dropped out of society."

It's finally here--my new mug. I've been obssessed with for some time, so I had my printed on this mug through a website. I think it came out really good! Now I can drink coffee or tea while imagining Lamb roasting me with his tasty insults.

More Philippine gothic (aka my mom's stories):

My mother's eldest half sister Antonia was one of six children by my grandfather Vicente's first wife Paula. Antonia was born in 1914 and became a nurse. She was a brave, no-nonsense, determined woman, different from her two younger sisters who were pampered small town beauty queens. She served in Bataan in WW2, where she met her husband, an Army captain. Just after the war she continued serving in the hospital in Camp Macabulos in Tarlac City. /1

@pixiecata I like how these stories almost always intersect with the broader narratives of history we're familiar with, like the Huks. They're like micro history told by the people who actually lived those times.

    Throwback to that one time in 5th grade civic studies when we were discussing about basic rights of children. My teacher asked us about what we think were basic rights, and I raised my hand—and I consider this my first act of activism—and told the teacher that kids should be able to have some time everyday to play instead of studying all the time. @moonwalkerwiz@mastodon.sdf.org avatar

    @teacherbuknoy I mean you were and still are technically right tho. I don't know if it's a "right" but IMO kids should be playing just as much as they're studying. Especially in today's context where parents are so driven to give their children the competitive advantage in their education that they near obliterate their kids' childhood. It's wrong.

    Recently rediscovered my love for Kowloon House Jumbo Siopao. My late grandma used to buy this for us kids. It was too big and most of the time I couldn't finish it but loved it nonetheless. It's packed with all sorts of meat and God knows what but it tastes delicious, especially with the red super spicy sauce. Nice to know little has changed about it or none at all. I've eaten too much of it during the holidays (and eating it now, again).

    Our farm manager Christine started cooking these bibingkas (rice cakes with salted egg and coconut) at 4am, using a charcoal stove. My mom had requested these while feeling nostalgic for the little bibingkas she used to buy as a student in Bacolod, on the side of the road while waiting for the bus home. Had a couple for breakfast; had another one with coffee just now. Delicious!

    You could not convince me to use paper straws everywhere and stop using plastic bags when billionaires like Taylor Swift expend carbon emissions in three months about thirty- something times more than I do in a year just to see their boyfriend. Y'all really think the common working folk are the problem.

    Somebody gifted me with impressive jars of loose leaf . I rarely drink this type, and unashamed to admit I get by with bags of cheap Lipton. So I proceeded to make a cup of loose leaf mint tea--never had it before--took a sip, and, well, this must be how it feels to drink a hot cup of extra strength mouthwash.

    review: First things first--I'm probably kinder to than a lot of people because I love DC Comics and he used to be the steward of its movie universe. I do think it's unfortunate that it's become extremely hard to judge this director's work on its own merits because of his rabid "cult", and the endless comparisons of his product with the Marvel movies, which many people still view with rose-tinted glasses, even though a good number of them are schlock. Don't really know much about chocolates, but I ended up researching the best -made chocolates because we needed to find something good to give relatives for our party. Tigre y Oliva was on that list, and their were in the range of our budget, so we purchased some. They're really good. 👌

    Also, I didn't know there's a growing number of local artisanal chocolate brands now. If we can make chocolates this good, it's an industry that needs more support.

    @jikodesu Most of them do and you can order from them. Sometimes delivery's not an option though, just pick up by courier. Tigre y Oliva: https://tigreyoliva.com/ , Theo & Philo: https://theoandphilo.com/ . Anwin is another local brand I found in my research. They're from Davao, but they don't have a website just Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/anwinchocolate?igsh=MXR0NDA3emx0NDc3aA== @luthien1126
