Hey so is there any USB-C/Thunderbolt HDMI capture card that works for Apple Silicon Macs?

Turns out AVerMedia says in their FAQ they specifically do not support 2K/4K on macOS 🙃

@fasterthanlime I'd expect black magic stuff to work. They've always had good compatibility on macos. UltraStudio 4k Mini for example.

Ich bin ja ein wenig davon verwundert, das es anscheinend einfach keinen GPU beschleunigten Tile Renderer für OSM gibt? Wäre das nicht grade für einen Tileserver vorteilhaft gegenüber mehr CPUs rein klatschen?

@herrbett Braucht man das überhaupt noch wenn man Vektor Tiles nutzt? Da gibt es zumindest client libs die zum rendern WebGL nutzen. Könnte man ggf auch auf andere Anwendungsfälle abwandeln?

One big hurdle of using an is the signup process.

Before using an API you often need to sign up and obtain credentials, e.g., an API key or client ID and secret.

Why isn't there yet a fully automated API signup solution? Who's working on this?

This problem reminds me of what it would take to set up an SSL certificate before letsencrypt existed.

@bpedro there is a mechanism for it as an extension of oauth: https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/rfc7591

I think many Fediverse web clients use it so they don't have to statically create apps on every server out there.

The massive rise in fraud, spam, DoS attacks, and malicious traffic generally across the entire internet in 2024 alone is of such a scale and variety that I cannot help but wonder if there is a nation state behind it

Reply to this thread with references to incidents in 2024 that you know of. I have: fediverse spam, sourcehut DDoS and spam, codeberg DDoS and spam, spam on gitea/forgejo instances generally, and the latest malware flood on GitHub. What else is going on?
