I'm now eyeing the font stack in Ghostty to decrease memory usage. Early results: 5-10% less memory on macOS and 10-25% less on Linux. Interestingly, the standard fontconfig/freetype/harfbuzz stack on Linux must use more memory than CoreText on macOS to account for this delta.

Previously, each terminal (window, tab, etc) had its own font stack: face handles, rasterization caches, atlas. The work I'm doing changes this so all terminals with the same font configuration share a single font stack.

@Vivaldi after testing a while it still seems that something is off with the search algorithm. it takes just so long to autocomplete domains based on browser history for example. compared to brave or ff where it's literally instant
