niktemadur,

bOtH pArTiEs ArE tHe SaMe LoL aMiRiTe WhY bOtHeR vOTiNg!

“But it was the republican-appointed SCOTUS judges who rammed their agenda through, because you people let trump through the door in 2016, you allowed this to happen and seem intent on letting it happen over and over again.”

bOtH pArTiEs ArE tHe SaMe!!! MaRy HaD a LiTtLe LaMb LiTtLe LaMb LiTtLe LaMb…!!!

niktemadur, (edited )

Not voting because bOtH pArTiEs ArE tHe SaMe, even after the goddamned 2016-21 dark ages, is the leftist version of anti-vaxx anti-mask. Too many people seem to be equally lazy plus self-centered equals stupid, in all directions.

Whether it’s about putting a piece of cloth on your face or voting, they’re special; above it all; they know what the truth is, and we’re the dumb ones for not seeing it, we’re the dumb ones for doing something, for choosing a path of effort/inconvenience/civic duty instead of inaction. And we are the mindless herd to them.

EDIT: Then you tell them that republican and russian troll farms are flooding their discussions, concern trolling about genocide while russia itself is invading Ukraine with genocidal intentions, with the explicit intent to get them to not vote because they are manipulable in bad faith, and do they seem to care?

niktemadur,

Those train tracks are the non-voting, bOtH pArTiEs ArE tHe SaMe LoL aMiRiTe idiots.

niktemadur,

This would have created a strong science hub and community in Texas, a real reason for the state to be proud of itself, looking towards the future like it did in the 1960s, and that was due to the Democrats with LBJ.
Now instead, they got assault rifle-totin’, shit-kicking knuckle-draggers for life, as the whole place builds up inertia sinking into a festering swamp of its’ own ignorance.

niktemadur,

Even though he was fumbling in the dark, at least he was attempting to systematize behavioral phenomena instead of blindly keep on accepting any medieval concepts of “spiritual possession” or a vague catch-all vague term of “madness” that preceded him.
This all had to start somewhere, and any science isn’t born in any sort of perfect final form.

Another good example is how astronomy had to arise from astrology… which by the way was also used as part of the ancient, rusty toolkit to try and make sense of the mind.

Even astronomy post-Copernicus and Newton has gone through its’ false starts and dead ends:
Canals on Mars.
The Milky Way as the entire universe.
The Steady State Universe.
The list goes on…

Even now, we are fumbling to make sense of the data captured by the James Webb Space Telescope, because what is being seen does not fit predictions made by carefully crafted cosmology theories of galaxy formation and maybe the age of the universe.

Psychology is no different. Limited tools and data sets give limited snapshots of reality, but that also doesn’t mean they are useless, and the good thing is that we have moved away from pointing the finger at astrology, witchcraft, “God’s will” and all that.

niktemadur,

Look up the story of 17th-century castaway Phillip Quarll.
After several years alone on an island in the Pacific, although it had an abundant monkey population. Then one day a ship passed by and landed on the shore.

Quarll opted to remain alone on the island for the rest of his days, assured the captain that he was of sound mind even while choosing such a fate, to prove it handed him his own story in writing, I suppose there was paper and ink that had survived the shipwreck.

Quarll cooked a meal for the captain, using only ingredients he had been using for years on the island; the captain later described the meal as exquisite in its’ simplicity and harmony, at one with nature.

In his experiences, Quarll had been changed profoundly. Originally quite a drunk hellraiser back in England, he had found an inner peace, and did not see the value of himself returning to civilization and society.

niktemadur,

Back in the late-80s or early-90s, a guy in my coastal town bought a new Nissan Pathfinder, took a bunch of friends for a nighttime joyride at the beach. I do believe there was beer involved.

When they hit water lapping in the sand and made a sharp turn, the tires made a wake that looked really, really cool! Do that again!

Suddenly, the car stopped moving forward. They had drifted too deep. Of course none of these rocket scientists had any idea if the tide was coming or going… it was coming.

They got out - through the windows I guess - waded onshore and prayed for the best. But like I said, the tide was coming. They saw the Pathfinder that still had that new agency car smell, getting completely submerged.

Next day a tow truck pulled it onshore, but as you probably guessed, it was a total loss.

niktemadur,

It’s called a barycenter, kids, a common center that both objects circle around. That common center happens to be inside the sun, but that’s a topic for next week’s class in this semester’s AP Astrophysics program.

There would also not have been an invasion of Iraq, things like Isis would have probably remained an unkicked hornet’s nest.
License to torture at will would not have been granted to government goons.

The threat of hijacking airplanes and smashing them into iconic buildings would have been taken seriously. Which opens up the possibility that 9/11 could have been averted. Then maybe the mouth-breathers at TSA would not have been given the power to profile and harass at airports.

The list goes on: Katrina and New Orleans; the neutralizing of the Consumer Protection Bureau; the typically republican financial free-for-all that led to the collapse of Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac.

Then there are Supreme Court appointments, which we get to keep for life, like goddamned herpes.

But since so many ignorant and smug lazy assholes stayed home on Election Day bOtH pArTiEs ArE tHe SaMe LoL aMiRiTe, everybody got a succession of utterly preventable shit sandwiches.

niktemadur,

The point is to give someone vulnerable a full life, with safety and warmth.
From your perspective, time went by too fast; from their perspective, it was a long and peaceful lifetime, they were incredibly fortunate to have someone like you.

Also, there is an implicit assumption we carry around that to be immortal is some sort of blessing or state to aspire to, while it may very well be that being mortal is itself the blessing.

In my opinion, the highest tribute one can pay to a departed friend and companion is to again open one’s home to another vulnerable creature and make him/her family.

Do it in your departed friend’s memory and honor. If you could communicate again with them, you would let them know this is part of their proud and gentle legacy, to reduce suffering on the world - “Look what you did, by being who and what you were for me in life, you opened the door for someone else when their turn came.”

This is what I have done, and do not regret a minute of it.

niktemadur,

Ok, somebody’s gotta say it and it’s gonna be me:

Yo dawg, we put a shower in your shower so you can shower while you shower.

niktemadur,

If that idiotic and corrosive Brexit campaign had been defeated, the headline might be screaming how scheming EU nations drag the UK into their expensive transport plans.

Also the same mindless parrots on their tellys and newspapers would be mindlessly arguing the point, tossing out word salads, exactly as they would with the EU making their plans and keeping the UK out of them.

Meanwhile, non-voters who could have made a difference will be just as idiotic on polling day: “Politics is for wankers/both parties are the same. Shall we go for drinks?”

Wait till you get a load of that Swiss alchemist who isolated sulphur in powder form, which was later used to quickly start fires, as in matches.

Looking for gold, he thought - what else has the color of gold? The answer struck him in a moment of inspiration - urine.

This crazy bastard boiled gallons and gallons of piss in his home workspace. One can only begin to imagine the stench during those alchemical sessions… and how he was perceived by the rest of the neighborhood. Not a very popular man, I would imagine.

EDIT: Now that I think about it, I think it was phosphorus. Even more apt, considering the atomic symbol is “P”!

niktemadur,

I still remember the so-called Greatest Generation and Silent Generation falling in love with Reagan, combined with Baby Boomer hedonistic indifference, resultng in liberal Democrats getting ripped to shreds at the ballot box. As an adapt-or-die reaction to Bernie-style Democrats getting electorally decimated in the 80s and 90s, the Democratic Party shifted to the center… and republicans got batshit insane with AM radio and 24-hour propaganda television.

Recent history has showed me in real time how it takes several elections to smash something down… or build something up. Yet there are too many people who seem to believe that one single election is a magic wand that can cure every goddamned evil in politics and society. And if they don’t get what they want, they don’t vote again, or they tune out entirely - “there were elections? I didn’t notice” - constantly putting Democrats in a “damned if you do, damned if you don’t” situation.

Case in point of Democrats getting bold: LBJ signing the Civil Rights Act into law, and the country got Nixon twice. Democrats lost the entire south electorally for generations, to this day and beyond.

Also, Democrats have to deal with hysterical and/or opportunistic right wing shitheads who abuse their power to sabotage every policy proposal, or even the normal functioning of the government at every level, pointless government shutdowns that paralyze the entire apparatus, including day-to-day essentials like teachers and park rangers.
Fascist bastards who enjoy flirting with visions of dictatorship… as long as they’re the dictator. Who are constantly looking for ways to subvert democracy. Nixon, Cheney, the orange intestinal parasite.

This is the math Democrat politicians have to work with whenever making a far-reaching decision.

Complicating the hellish job even further, there’s all those fickle, cherry-picking oh-so-pure voters who demand being catered to instantly and get their “knowledge” from twitter, a noisy drag on the equation.

Since the 90s, the right wing bastards have perfected the dark art of exploiting 24-hour mass media to keep people rabidly ignorant, to divide and conquer with a “politics for idiots” mantra that bOtH pArTiEs ArE tHe SaMe LoL aMiRiTe.

I saw it all happen in real time.

niktemadur,

This is actually brilliant. Taking their own bad faith verbal gymnastics and shoving them back in their faces like a cream custard pie.

Wall street is the psychotic, insatiable, dehumanizing tail that wags the dog, one petulant tantrum-a-minute to the next, and the next, and the next… perpetually.
God forbid anyone in a corporate position of power try and do anything that isn’t indecent and corrosively myopic, else the stampeding Dow Jones zombies go on a goddamned short-selling rampage.

But then people have been saying this for ages now, and still here we are.

EDIT: added “insatiable”

niktemadur,

“Mr Data, disable AdBlock.”
“Are you certain, Captain? I advise against it.”
“Proceed, Mr Data.”
“Very well, Sir…”

HOT LONELY SINGLES NEAR YOU IN >DELTA QUADRANT< ARE WAITING RIGHT NOW TO HEAR FROM YOU!

niktemadur,

Just the other day I was telling my son that instead of Ant Man, it should’ve been Mant.

niktemadur,

Translation into “plainspeak”, filtering out all the deflection and projection:

We have an incompetent alcoholic military, with a toxic environment of forceful sodomy among our own troops abusing each other as well as others.

Yep… that pretty much covers it completely.

niktemadur,

This is where Pepe The Frog belongs, after being in the clutches of the maga right wing. Thank god he escaped.

niktemadur,

You’ve heard of a “walled garden”.
But this… this has become a “walled right-wing dumpster”.
