: The Aghanim's Shard the Tormentor grants can be given to a person who has bought the shard but not yet been delivered by the courier. Leading to a dead slot of inventory and you must sell the shard.

I did some dumb stuff, and I broke my kubernetes cluster. I deleted the tailscale operator before deleting the services that used them. 🤣

Learned a lot about manually patching manifests using Kubernetes API though!

kubectl patch -n ${NAMESPACE} svc ${SERVICE} --type='json' -p='[{"op": "remove", "path": "/metadata/finalizers/0"}]' to the rescue!

https://www.techdirt.com/2023/06/28/music-streaming-services-sell-musicians-access-to-their-fans-soundcloud-goes-a-better-way/ Wow, this is awesome to see. SoundCloud actually doing a good thing for artists? I wonder if any other business will. Probably not, but glad to see at least one is trying.

Now, what was my account password again...?

    @Teri_Kanefield if she does really go full crazy QAnon, she might not be thinking that far out.

    Don't think it's likely she does, though. I agree with what I think you're saying - possibility 1 is the least likely to happen.

    I fixed my DNS cluster so that AXFR is working! Which is good, because my mastodon server was about to have an expired certificate in a couple of days. 😂

    "check the logs" is not something you should ever write into a production runbook, just like you shouldn't write "continue breathing", or "make sure your heart is still beating". Tell me what the system does, how it functions, what I might expect to see in logs during normal operation, so that I can identify what is abnormal. Don't tell me "look at this text stream you've never seen before and hope you can identity abnormality"

    nogweii,
    @nogweii@nogweii.net avatar

    @danderson would expanding that to be "check the logs for X" be the same to you?

    RIP 🪦 my steam controller. Best controller I’ve ever used. It got dropped today and the shoulder button’s actuator snapped off. I’ll think about ways to repair this thing - a small 3d printed part would work alright given the clearances around this area..
    (This is not a request for help)

    nogweii,
    @nogweii@nogweii.net avatar

    @whack if its RIP, would 3D-printing be considered technological necromancy? 🤔

    Just saw the new movie, Rise of The Beasts. The animals were my favorite part of the franchise growing up, so I was super excited to see the movie. It hit all the right notes, I'm pleased with it.

    But, should you go see in theaters? Eh, take it or leave it. Its a great flick to turn your brain off, even though there are some major head scratchers in the plot. It's fine to wait 'til it is streaming.

    I'm glad they have recognized the gravitational pull of the Battle Pass and are going to split changes up into more smaller pieces. Looking forward to what that looks like throughout the next year and more.

    Google Domains (which allows you to buy a domain, not the thing that manages the gTLDs like .dev or .zip) is being sold to Squarespace. Part of the deal makes Squarespace the exclusive provider for anyone buying a domain in Google Workspace, which is interesting.

    https://9to5google.com/2023/06/15/google-domains-squarespace/

    This shutdown of a Google product is so well managed that it doesn't even feel real. @codyogden have you ever seen such a smooth transition from Google?

    New import options coming to Itinerary. More online sources will follow when we get pointers to corresponding APIs :)

    @VolkerKrause hm, could you point me to docs on adding import sources? I'm especially curious about automatically adding entries from emails. (I'm thinking airline tickets, car rentals, etc.)

    @VolkerKrause oh wow! Is there more documentation on the JS APIs available? Seems like there is some PDF parsing already loaded. And how does one use these? I need to read up on Itinerary more...

    Today I learned: Using the CI templated Terraform integration will not work for users with only "Developer" level permissions. See https://gitlab.com/gitlab-org/terraform-images/-/issues/15 for a report. This is intentional, as without the limitation the CI pipeline could be a vector for privilege escalation.

    After writing https://danluu.com/look-stupid/, I was surprised that one of the most common comments I got was some variation of "yeah, you and me are ok with someone thinking we're stupid because we know we're smart". That's not where it comes from for me at all and it actually hadn't occurred to me that would be a reason for a lot of people.

    Personally, I grew up feeling really stupid a lot of the time and just got used to the feeling to the point where it just doesn't bother me.

    nogweii,
    @nogweii@nogweii.net avatar

    @danluu reading through that, I'm realizing I'm often one of those people on the other side. Especially in video games.

    I feel like that probably isn't going to be for the best for any relationship that I want to maintain.

    This is really cool! https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-ietf-add-ddr/

    It's a way for DHCP clients to dynamically discover the local network's preferred encrypted DNS providers, across both IPv4 and IPv6.

    That IPv6 support is important since it's implemented using DNS itself rather than an additional DHCP option, which is clever. There are notable IPv6 implementations that never invoke DHCPv6 (Android) and this spec has Google support.
