I was fighting the boss JW2 and died a few times. I decided to do an experimental run, test some mechanics out.

Turns out, that's the time I beat the boss! 😂 With only 3 air left! 😱
(Thankfully I didn't die immediately after. The game fills you up to 1/3rd of your air when you finish a boss fight.)

@Foxboron asking you as an Arch packager, have you heard anything about Vim's future as a project? Anyone stepping up as a maintainer?

And if vim does fall to the wayside, what will Arch do for vi?

nogweii,
@nogweii@nogweii.net avatar

@mrelendig @Foxboron ah, whoops. I thought it was vim's minimal/compatibility mode. Thanks for the clarified & link!

@vivianrose this is so cool! How is the visibility in the respirator? Similar the description of the full-size TV Head?

Hrm,

I think I should write a bit about the "rapid" adoption of sigstore and the possible problem domains we might have in the future.

It's not like this boding very well for things like Reproducible Builds if we expect a OIDC issuer to continue living for a reasonable amount of years under the same domain.. with the same version... key rotation and... and...

nogweii,
@nogweii@nogweii.net avatar

@Foxboron the other thing is, even if we can assume that a given OIDC deployment is stable and will last forever... Only a few blessed providers are even trusted in the first place. What about software that doesn't live in Github?

nogweii,
@nogweii@nogweii.net avatar

@Foxboron oh, you're right. Huh, must've misread the docs pretty badly.

@davidrevoy I'm sorry to hear that, though I think people have found using WebMentions and/or federated responses to be a pretty sufficient alternative.

A while ago someone asked me how many internet transfers does worldwide a normal day. While impossible to know for sure, the largest single company user I know of does some 100 billion transfers/day. That's one company.

Then add everyone else. My guesstimate? 20-50 times that.

nogweii,
@nogweii@nogweii.net avatar

@bagder I think that's gotta to be an undercount. Curl underlies so many other libraries and installed in so many places... I'd have started at hundreds of trillions.

I'm annoyed. I purchased a Beurer BM55 because I wanted to use this really cool tool I found to track and organize my blood pressure measurements: https://codeberg.org/LazyT/ubpm

But no! It doesn't have the USB port any more! Beurer removed it back in 2019. So that whole plan is out the window. Still a decent way to measure my blood pressure, but missing the feature I was looking for. 😓

Heads up, don't enable the OpenPhish source in the adblock package. It takes all the URLs in the feed and blocks their domains, which is not a wise use of the feed.

OpenPhish publishes full URLs, that doesn't mean the entire domain is a phishing site.

First Destiny 2 impressions: it starts you off with half a dozen cut scenes with random words and made up names. They’re very dramatic but provide no context. Then drops you into a mission with a shitty pistol and zero guidance or context beyond halo-style “go here!” What is even this game. I’ve now softlocked it by jumping across to the Wrong Asteroid during a jumping puzzle in the first mission and I can’t get off of it.

nogweii,
@nogweii@nogweii.net avatar

@whack if you're up for it, I'd be down to guide you through the intro of Destiny 2 and explain anything. Its a lot of fun, but Bungie does a terrible job explaining it.

Hey, a minor announcement: An IETF thing I helped with has been approved and will be getting an RFC number in a few weeks: https://www.ietf.org/archive/id/draft-ietf-jsonpath-iregexp-08.html

A small-ish subset of regular expression syntax/semantics, should work interoperably across the (many) popular regexp implementations.

Mostly for use in other specifications I think?

nogweii,
@nogweii@nogweii.net avatar

@timbray very cool! Love to see it. I didn't see any discussion on the greediness of the quantifiers. I guess the interoperable assumption is very greedy by default.

So I've had a rough week. Talking with the doc today, its one of the following things:

  • Dehydration
  • Depression
  • Sleep Apnea
  • Anxiety
  • High blood pressure
  • Low blood pressure

But I have no clue! And neither does the doc! So that's going to be a fun series of medical tests in order to figure that out.

ooooh the next systemd release supports exponential backoff for crashloop restarts!

Every systemd release note is a little bit of joy as I get to read about all the things that are getting a little bit better than before.

nogweii,

@jaxu @danderson now I wonder how long it'll be before usage of that RFC will be widespread enough to have the lack of presence to be a reliable indicator of no captive portals.
