I wonder how many reckon the extreme side of Christianity (which we see currently devouring the rights of the peoples of the USA) is a threat to our way of life too…
As a British voter, Christiofascism worries me far more than Islam does right now.
Labour has claimed a “culture of inertia and stasis” has blocked renewable energy projects under the Conservatives and says the party will overturn a de facto onshore wind ban “at the stroke of a pen” if it wins the general election....
Actions speak louder than words, and these ruling class politicians just say whatever they think will raise their popularity with the peasants this month,
then when elected just carry on the status quo of giving everything we have to their rich mates, stripping us off our rights and taking away our access to the things we need, bit by bit, decade after decade.
It doesn’t matter which party they’re in, they’re all the same :-(
The few who actually care and want to make a difference for the nation rather than consolidate their own classes powerbase are never allowed to reach any true positions of power within any parties. We’ll never be given the chance to vote for them :-(
Three minutes isn’t a long walk for an old person either, unless they’re pretty badly disabled or such, and at that point they’ll have walkers with built in seating, or be in a wheelchair with a carer already.
I agree we need more public seating, and more that’s comfortable and not designed to contort you in weird ways. But seats every three minutes walk? That’s kinda insane :-P
Woah now hold on there just a second buddy ol’ pal, we millennials are all about emojis! We called them smileys and emoticons sure, for forums and MSN Messenger etc, but we were all over 'em!
Then text messaging and Facebook came along and didn’t support that stuff and we were sad, but now they’re back!
Except standard emojis suck, they’re better on stuff like Discord now where you can just upload whatever emotes you want and use them wherever, and they can animate too! Really feels like being back in the forum/MSN Messenger Plus! days 😁
I suppose technically these services still exist, I’m trying to access them, I’m just on a waiting list for literally many years right now to try to maybe benefit from these services.
I’m not even kidding. The wait will literally be years, for several unrelated things.
Our nations services might as well not exist at this point.
The Japanese one somehow landed upside down, literally upside down, engine pointing up, undamaged from the landing! Now that’s impressive!
One of its thruster bells broke off during final descent causing a loss of that thrust which threw the whole thing out of whack, it corrected admirably but landed upside down haha.
Such a weird cool turn of events. Space is so cool.
Using the USA flag for Intuitive Machines is a tad disingenuous, they’re not a public US arm that represents the nation and it’s people, they’re just a private for profit company, same as Amazon or McDonalds.
They don’t care what country they’re in, they just go where they think they can make the most money. Right now they think that’s the USA.
They’re more than happy to cash in on American pride and nostalgia by slapping a bunch of flags all over their corporate space equipment and trying to spin this as “The first American moon landings since Apollo”, haha.
Exactly. Which is why people who ate on the opposite end of the extreme, insisting that all cars of all kinds must be banished, are so annoying.
There’s no one size fits all system, so stop with the “everyone should just ride the bus or train you don’t need cars” rubbish. Neither extreme are correct. We live in the real world.
The hell is social security? We don’t have one of those.
Is this another one of those American terms they’re trying to replace our terminology with? It smells of that.
Also Britain is an island, it doesn’t include Northern Ireland, which is part of the UK, and if we’re talking about a nation wide thing I suspect it’ll include more than just Britain, but in fact the entire UK.
Sorry, I’m just tired of Americans trying to force their terminology on us after so many years of putting up with it :-(
Reddit but with less content (which is fine), I browse by top past 6 or 12 hours, and just check in once or twice a day.
Also I don’t know about more mature… There’s a lot more people here arguing and gatekeeping and generally being weird about Linux for some reason.
I mean, I like Linux, I use it a lot, but these people make it their identity, like it’s an obsession, and they violently hate people who dare to use Windows.
…I get the impression these are actual grown adult men and women, acting like big babies :-P
There’s a lot of people here engaging with Linux discussion in a normal healthy manner too of course, just the weird ones are the loudest, you know? It’s off putting.
What can you get to within a 15-minute walk of your house?
A recent YouGov survey asked Americans what they think they should be able to get to within a 15-minute walk of their house.
Of these choices, I can currently walk to all of them from my apartment, aside from a university (no biggie, I'm not currently studying, although there is a Tafe within walking distance), a hospital, and a sports arena.
How many can you get to with a 15 minute walk from your house?
As someone in the UK, I already live within a 15 minute walk of most of these.
Is it really that bad over there? If you’re not within a quick walk to the shops, or the doctors, or school, tram and bus stops, opticians, dentists, etc, how do you and the kids get anything done?
Who would intentionally move somewhere like that? The first thing we do when looking at moving to a new place is see what services are within walking distance, to get an idea for how worth it living there would be.
If you’ve got to walk 30+ minutes just to get to the shops? That’s an arse ache you don’t want.
One of the recipes is Beans on Toast. It’s ridiculous how simple it is.
…And naturally you have to make the toast, in a toaster, first xD
But yes in general it has well thought out recipes that correctly work to a microwave’s strengths, I find most people who hate using a microwave when cooking are using it poorly - expecting it to work just like an oven or a pot on a stove. It’s just a different tool is all, not the right tool for all uses, but great when used correctly.
Quick heads up: natural parks = any place that could be considered outdoorsy. Think national parks or famous lakes like Lake Tahoe. Forest and wooded areas can also be included....
I always just take a train there, if it’s a place worth visiting they’ll almost always have a train route passing by with a regular service throughout the day and evening.
For example if I want to visit the Peak District I just hop on a train to Edale and bam, I’m a 10 minutes walk from a bunch of different trails and things to see.
All the major national parks I’ve visited have been like this so far, if they didn’t have good transport links how would they expect anybody to visit? And they want people to visit, to spend money in the local towns/villages that house those transport links, etc.
