So proud of our student workers, who voted overwhelmingly to join the California State University Employees Union. 20,000 student assistants will join CSUEU’s 16,000 staff members, making them the largest union of undergraduate student workers in the United States ✊

I was reported for striking, as were the rest of my librarian colleagues. We know who reported us...

Management set up a form encouraging students to fink on us during next week's systemwide faculty strike in the California State University. They'll then use that to withhold our pay for the week. But that won't stop us. ✊💪

Re-posting this in the hopes of reaching more folks, with thanks to those who've already connected with me and helped out...

Hi and folks. I'm mentoring some awesome faculty who are creating an undergraduate Library & Archival Studies Concentration in Africana Studies at their institution. The purpose of the concentration is to encourage undergraduates to pursue MLIS degrees.

One of the things we're focusing on is developing an introductory foundations class. I've been brainstorming possible things to cover and would love your input and ideas.

Currently I've organized things by:

  1. Things library folks need to know
  2. Things library folks (may) need to do
  3. Professional pathways (a set of perspectives for framing the content)

DM if you'd like to contribute to my brainstorming doc, or add your thoughts here👇

We received notification from our uni president that most COVID measures are being dropped now that the “public health emergency has ended.” I’m contemplating the range of artifacts left behind in the built environment as we pretend that everything is fine and we’re “back to normal”

Instructors, I'm begging you. If you're going to assign a digital project -- even as an optional assignment modality -- please PLEASE provide resources and scaffolding for your students. Asking them to "make a podcast" without giving them any guidance on how to do it does not set them up for success.
