From time to time, a single golden eagle came by to secure some of the carrion. This was always heralded by great commotion among the ravens, who all scampered off and took cover in the trees.

Chamois in the morning light. I had a photo of this kind in mind when I was out and about in the Vosges mountains this year. I visited the chamois several times at sunrise and sunset, but in the shady mountain slopes I only managed to take a few satisfactory pictures. Then, on the 3rd morning, everything fell into place: I spotted a group of chamois further down the slope close to the path. Other photographers and hikers stayed up on the hilltop so that I could observe and photograph the animals in their natural environment undisturbed. A great experience with my favorite picture as a souvenir.
