The brave service members who fought on D-Day represent the Greatest Generation in our history.
Together, they stood to oppose the forces of fascism, volunteered to lay down their lives for our liberty, and answered freedom’s call at its hour of greatest need.
And today, on the 80th anniversary of D-Day, I met with 41 World War II veterans in Normandy to honor their service. Together we remember their sacrifice and recommit to the future they fought for.
I would have preferred to address our issues at the border through bipartisan legislation because that’s the only way to actually fix our broken system –
But Republicans in Congress have left me no choice.

@ninavizz@wbpeckham@potus Why are you being nasty? I'm asking good faith questions about a topic I'm not fully educated on. I thought you understood what you're talking about and could inform me. My mistake, I guess. Also, that link doesn't provide the information I'm asking about. It's clear you don't actually know what you're talking about. You should have just said that up front and I wouldn't have wasted your valuable time.
One critical step we've taken that has made a huge difference is that we've chosen to work with Mexico as an equal partner – as friends and neighbors – instead of attacking Mexico.
And the facts are clear.
Due to the agreements that I've reached with President López Obrador, the number of migrants coming to our shared border unlawfully in recent months has dropped dramatically.
We are working for a ceasefire and hostage deal that would allow the United States and our partners to begin the work to rebuild homes, schools, and hospitals in Gaza to help repair communities destroyed in the chaos of war.
Our proposal to end the war in Gaza begins with a complete ceasefire, withdrawal of Israeli forces from all populated areas in Gaza, the release of hostages and hostage remains, the ability for Palestinians to return to Gaza, and a surge of humanitarian assistance.
