I really do not understand what is going on with . It seems like he brought this on himself by reneging on green pledges and thereby sabotaging the coalition with the Green Party? @torgo I have the same question. He trashes his own coalition - and that's always bad.

Whoever breaks a coalition pays the price, and that's what we're now seeing. Not just Yousef himself but the entire SNP will be punished by the voters. Unless the rules over there are very different ...

So what was he thinking? Why not make life so unpleasant for the Greens that they quit of their own accord?

We use self-closing syntax in HTML where it doesn't do anything. People see it and assume it does something.

I'm now at day 8 of not smoking.

If it continues like this, I'm going to succeed in quitting smoking permanently. Though I thank the stars for bits of nicotine chewing gum when I really need it.

Meanwhile, a funny story is attached to my quitting ...

Quitting was a total surprise even to myself, and I decided not to tell anyone because it could easily go wrong. I read that you have to make all kinds of preparations 2-4 weeks in advance, and I didn't do any of that.

So anyway, I didn't tell my friends.

I now met groups of friends on three separate occasions ... and none of them have yet figured out I quit smoking. They didn't notice I didn't take my usual smoking breaks.

Most of them quit smoking long ago, some still smoke. But even two smoking friends didn't notice

Apparently, noticing that someone is not doing something is a lot harder than noticing someone is doing something.

Anyway, I now decided not to tell any of my friends (none of them are on Masto) and see when they figure it out for themselves.

I mean, it would be really funny if they didn't notice for months and months ...

@sarajw Nah, they just didn't notice. We've all known each other for at least 35 years, and we are pretty direct with one another. Besides, most of the quitters had to quit while others around them continued smoking, and to hell with triggers.

I get what you mean, but it just isn't the case.

This adds up to a Labour-Tory coalition in Holyrood if an election was held tomorrow, doesn't it?

(Scarily, Labour policies are closer to Tory than they are to the SNP. And they have an intense tribal hate for the SNP. SNP/Green coalition would be a minority; LibDems unlikely to join and it would still leave them a seat short of a majority.)
