I upgraded from an #iPhone 11 Pro to a 14 Pro Max. Mainly for the camera and the storage (512GB->1TB). A few notes after 2 days of use:

• Camera is significantly better at macro and in poor lighting conditions, especially on ultra-wide and telephoto lens compared to 11 Pro. Otherwise the difference is not that big.

• I was surprised at how bad primary lens was at focusing on QR codes during initial setup but maybe it is a bug. It has not happened again since.

I don’t know how controversial my opinion is but I find the modern #Rolex Air King extremely unappealing. It has lost a lot of the traits from the original looking more like a weird downgraded mix between an Explorer and a Milgauss. And it doesn’t even live up to its name anymore as its design is inspired by a car and has almost nothing to do with airplanes/pilots. #watches #watchesofmastodon

I was not planning to upgrade my #AppleWatch. Honestly my Series 3 38mm may be old but it has been working fine, still has 90% battery and the newer models are very expensive. But I accidentally found a very very good deal (basically -60%) for a Series 8 45mm. Apps launch a bit faster. It has AOD. Screen is much bigger so it is easier to read, tap and put a lot of complications. But otherwise it is not much different.

The joy of #DaylightSavingTime 😅. The Citizen E650 synced with the atomic clock tower during the night so its time was correct in the morning. The Casio only required to turn on DST so it was painless. Except for the Apple Watch obviously, everything else needed to be adjusted manually though. #watches #watchesofmastodon

Ever since the update to iOS17, I was unable to use my #Pebble watch due to the sideloaded Pebble app constantly crashing badly. But I recently found out that iMazing could help restore the original IPA which is supposed to be a bit less broken than sideloaded. It seems to be indeed the case. Now I can at least load and manage apps/watchfaces. This is giving me more confidence that I can get back to using regular #watches and transition away from the #Apple Watch by using the Pebble time.

Recent addition to my collection: Two-tone Datejust 36mm reference 16013 with jubilee bracelet. This one has 2 slightly unusual features:

• it still has its service stickers with reference on the back
• it has the uncommon Buckley dial and even more uncommon in cream color since most Buckley dials are usually white or blue. The irony is that it likely looks less flashy to regular people but probably stands out more in the eyes of #Rolex collectors 😅
