Greetings to all new and returning followers here among #Mastodon & #equestria !
Yes, I have been over on #FireFish these days (see profile for link if ya wish to follow me there), but life's been okay I guess.
Nothing too exciting honestly to share (not even in 500 characters), but hopefully more as the fall progresses.
The only thing exciting right now (as of this post), is me going to Starbucks at around lunchtime to get their last 'buy one get one' deal on their Fall pumpkin drinks.
How ya gonna expect most blind people to jump over to a different platform (with the exception to a #HomeTown instance), if all the work is being specifically put into Mastodon?
@queenslight There are no mainstream apps t'hat are really accessible. Mastodon, but it doesn't work with all. Toot tusky and other apps that don't have pc counterparts, though toot is planning on a mac app.
@queenslight might be messy, but there are features you get on a pixel that you don't on other phones. not having to say punctuation marks when you are voice dictating is just one off the top of my head. samsung you have to say your punctuation marks.
Now here’s a #PeerTube instance that many of my #Blind mates may wish to jump on if wanting a platform for producing programming and/or Perusing podcasts, especially if you’re into #Audio content and want it among the #Fediverse!
One of the reasons why I will be getting a newer Windows machine soon. Not just for AI TTS audio stories like I did while the pandemic was at its peak, but as I have returned back to Android full time once more (Galaxy S23+ in this case), the Windows intagration with Samsung Dex will be quite a useful thing.
So, looking at three #Misskey clients on the Mac so far, those being #Kimis#missririca (also on Android) and #Misscat, all of them if running on a Mac using #Voiceover (where Kimis is a Mac exclusive), all three of them have some issue or another at the moment.
You are able to import your followers, blocked users, and muted words, from Mastodon or another Fediverse network, over to a Misskey instance if you so wish.
What use to be called Calckey is now called, #FireFish?
Well, it's a flaming hot name of fantastic proportions if I have ever heard one...
Great, now I need to refollow the 'other' crowd, again! Good thing most of them I still have in my followers list.., particularly the crowd of 'CheeseCakes', which sadly makes up most of that list!
@queenslight Thanks for link! Cannot sign up! Hcaptcha.com accessibility cookie will not set, even after white listing in my adblocker. Firefox 115, here. Using orca on Debian. I'm not touching it again; this shit is BROKEN!!! #accessibility#EpicFail#hcaptcha#firefish 😠
@MariahL@queenslight Fun Fact: Celestia's voice was made with voice files from the #PPP (Pony Preservation Project). Used around 30 voice lines, got two uploaded audio samples out of it, lasting for around 2 minutes or so of speaking lines.
@queenslight Meh, I've almost given up on Emacs and Emacspeak. VS Code just works. Not with Org-mode so well. No the extension isn't all that great. But for Markdown which everyone else uses, it's fine.
@GothicAnon Hi there!
It’s A sound pack for a screen reader which in English is called Commentary, but most of the time people call it #Jieshuo these days.
It’s a Chinese screen reader for Android, to go alongside Talkback from Google.
