I’m sure the PC version will run just as poorly as the first two games too…. Damn I wish they would slow down and revisit some of the core elements of the game like shader compilation stuttering and very jarring animations which both make the games feel so jerky.
Am I the only one who doesn’t want any, “do everything,” apps? I’d rather have 10 apps that each do one thing really well than have one app that haphazardly attempts to do 10 things.
I took a quick look at this and it seems that the server portion of this product is open source but the apps such as extensions are not. I’m not saying it’s bad or even that it’s a red flag. I just felt like I should point it out.
New polling shows national Republicans and Iowa Republican caucusgoers were more interested in “law and order” than battling “woke” schools, media and corporations.
I think it would be nice if more moderates from each party were more prominent. Right now we really have mostly very right leaning republicans and very left leaning democrats pushing legislature, making news headlines etc.
Not entirely sure why all the downvotes were necessary but I guess this is just like Reddit. I was just commenting on what the issue seems like to me. I’m happy to hear differing opinions but “lol @ very left leaning” comments and downvotes are hardly constructive.
The indictment against former President Donald Trump for his role in attempting to overturn the 2020 election results is the most important case in U.S. history, according to the author. This is the reality. The best thing everyone including the doj could have done is stop even acknowledging his existence. Things like this are just fanning the MAGA flame.
I really am glad that people are still flaming Reddit but at the same time they are still using the platform which is disappointing. I was really hoping people would accept that Reddit has gone to shit, that there is no going back to the way it was, and to move onto another platform like Lemmy or whatever other alternative.
I saw recently that Belkin is no longer going to support Matter on their Wemos line. Is this the first rumblings of Matter failing? Anybody heard anything similar from other companies?
Matter is going to take a long time to take hold if it ever does at all. Say what you want about zigbee and z wave but they’ve been around a while and have good support so it’s probably better to get familiar with something like home assistant and just use those protocols instead.
I really want to like lemmy, but it's difficult. I'm new to all this fediverse thingy, and I might just have old habits and perceptions how things should work but... You aren't doing anything wrong! This site/app (lemmy) and the concept (fediverse) are still super early days so there are going to be many problems. The site has some layout issues and there isn't nearly as much content as Reddit but that's just because it is new.
The most important bit, to me at least, is that the fundamental idea of the fediverse is good. We have had to many instances where social sites like Reddit, Facebook and Twitter can just decide what people can and can't say, they can remove our content and they can monetize it all without doing any real work of their own as far as creating content. The idea of the fediverse ensures that no one server, person or company has all the content and thus the control.
I really hope people stick with something fediverse whether it be lemmy, kbin or any of the other projects out there. Post content there, cross post it from Reddit if you really have to post to Reddit too for whatever reason. Please don't give these companies all the control anymore.
The contact card customization is a good idea. As far as I understood it you make your own contact card for yourself and that is what shows when you call someone. I imagine it only works if you are calling an iPhone user but still cool.

Why do the instances keep going down? It makes me think that this is not a reliable social network, but the alternatives are not as good.

Reddit: Bad news for third-party apps, their announced pricing is close to Twitter's pricing, and Apollo would have to pay Reddit $20 million per year to keep running as-is. (mastodon.social)
