I think the sound of a powering up to dump vomit onto the carpet is the most effective wakeup alarm.

Seems like most has , , etc, always either portrayed as oppressed or oppressors. Do y'all have any favorites (ideally film or tv, but also up for book or short story recs) that portray them and humans as equals that regularly interact and get along just fine?

@robert42 @Urban_Hermit Becky Chambers’ Monk and Robot novellas are an obvious recommendation

Question for the folks or anyone using a static site generator with . I know there's often git advice that says avoid storing large binaries in the repo because version control designed for plain text doesn't handle that well. For a static blog that may include a non-trivial number of large images, what's your approach? Ignore the avoid binaries guidelines, store them separately and just accept the extra bookkeeping, or something I'm not thinking of?

@robert42 I keep a few non-text files in my repo but most of it (a lot of images) exist in S3. I have maybe 100 or so images in there right now and have been charged no more than $.01 / month for the last 5 years 🤷‍♂️

TIL deleting your own boosted post also deletes the original post it seems? Is that correct / any way around that? @feditips

@robert42

If you want to unboost a post, click the boost button again.

Boosting a post doesn't create a second copy, it just shares the original post. If you delete that post, you will be deleting the original.

New instance, so I'm posting this again in case there's better (or at least different) reach on this server:

Does anyone in the area know of any beginner friendly DnD groups near Reston/Herndon? Or somewhere not too far off of the silver metro line? My wife and I joined our first campaign a couple of months before moving here from out of state and are looking to get back into it.
