Given the events of “Picard” and the delays of the writer’s strike, it’s considerably less likely we’ll get to see our old Q up to no good. Natasha has the smarmy attitude expected from a Q, so why not? Certainly welcome to a relative unknown in the role if they can pull it off, but she gets my vote.

This is a surprise? Anyone watching EVs for more than a few minutes knows that Toyota has been pushing back HARD against EVs, with other Japanese automakers doing effectively nothing to make the transition. Western automakers have been forced into it, either by scandal (hi VW) or having Tesla eat their lunch.

I expect Ford to make it, barely. GM will make it, at a cost. Toyota and Honda are too big to fail, they’ll just spend their way out of their own mess. It’s a matter of what brands will be reduced to niche manufacturers or have themselves bought out instead of going bankrupt. Stellantis has already sold themselves to Leapmotor, and will succeed or fail based on that JV.

My head canon is that he’s a severely autistic teenager with billionaire tech parents that develop AI-based autonomous robotic helpers. They gave him a bunch (mostly dog shaped) and a literal warehouse built to be Adventure Bay, so he lives out his days happy and “helping people” with his pups. In reality he’s beta testing his parents’ prototypes with edge cases no regular user could even think to come up with. The show is what Ryder thinks is happening, but it’s 50% in his head, and 50% enabled by his parents’ products. He is a more closely guarded secret than all of their IP combined. He doesn’t exist as far as anyone knows.

We don’t speak of how many pups get destroyed, or what fluids may get into them.

The same thing that’s wrong with saying I’m going 1250 rpm down the road. It may be correct, but doesn’t actually mean anything without more data.

They calculated it, and could only say “less than 25% of C” which isn’t even a rotational speed measurement?!? Get bent. If you don’t want to say, fine, don’t. But don’t tell me you’ve calculated something and then A) not give me that number, and B) give me a number that isn’t the number you calculated and can’t be used to determine the number you calculated without additional data that you also haven’t provided.

15 days. Great. What’s the circumference? Oh, they didn’t give that either. “15 days” is still not a rotational velocity, it’s linear.

I’m not giving these folks grief for doing near impossible measurements, I’m giving the article grief for claiming a measurement was made, and then not stating said measurement.
