Today's big project was making myself a crepe cake for my birthday. But not just any crepe cake--a gluten free crepe cake with ube crème pâtissière and butterfly pea flower whipped cream.

I have the first stage done, the crepes are stacked with the crème pâtissière (which is delicious) and chilling overnight. Tomorrow I'll finish up with the whipped cream.

It's New Pen Day!! My first BENU, and wohhhhhh she pretty.

I've inked it up with J. Herbin Kyanite du Nepal, which matches the blue of the pen nicely. Ink demo later.

Fountain pen peeps, what are your favorite grey inks? I'm specifically looking for inks with a grey base and a strong silver shimmer (other colors are fine but it should read as mainly silver) to refill my Lamy Vista. I was using Diamine Moon Dust but I don't really love it.

I wish people were as concerned about my physical health as they are about my mental health when I tell them I'm still mostly restricting my social activities to those I can do safely masked/distanced.

I know people don't want to mask anymore. I don't want to mask anymore either. I hate it. But I do it because Covid is still out there and we're in the middle of a summer surge.

Also, those of us who still need/want to mask deserve outings and social events where we can be safe(r) too. Everywhere else has done away with masking, please let us have one tiny little masked outdoor event without complaining about how it has a negative effect on people's mental well-being.

Hooray, hooray, it's New Pen Day!

I got hooked by Goldspot Pens' newsletter last week announcing this new Limited Edition Edison Pen Co in the Blue Nebula colorway. I couldn't help myself; it jumped into my cart.

I've inked it up with Colorverse's Monkeyhead Nebula Glistening, a grey-blue with pink shimmer. I can't get a handwriting sample I'm happy with today, so I'll have to show that off later.

My massage therapist's cat, Cinnabon, likes to sleep on my clothes while I'm on the table. He looked so comfortable I was reluctant to try to move him, but I DID need to get dressed...

Not sure what today holds for me other than some work stuff. Might try and get a post up on the blog and of course some video games, which will most likely be Diablo IV.

First run with the Cue Health molecular COVID home testing system, since PCRs are now expensive and hard to find grumble

We are fortunate to be able to afford the system and cartridges here, which allows me to still do limited travel and activities (always masked) with a 5-day home quarantine afterwards in case of exposure.

EDIT: Test is negative! I'm freeeeee!
