🦈🏎️ Wacky Wheels (1994, Apogee Software) is the animal racing game equivalent of Mario Kart for DOS. The developer accidentally sent the source code to another publisher along with a demo version 😱, but the resulting competitor, Skunny Kart, wasn't equally successful.

I wonder why text adventure games (i.e. interactive fiction) outright disappeared, instead of remaining a niche. I mean, we still have books without any pictures in them, don't we?

Just saw a video about this, there was almost an iomega Zip drive from Dreamcast. It was shown at some trade shows and they said it was intended for dlc for games like Phantasy Star Online and Quake III Arena, but was obviously cancelled. #Sega #RetroGaming

Anyone remember the Graphic Adventure Creator?

Originally made for the #Amstrad #CPC, my experience of it was from a #YourSinclair covertape.

Anyway, it's been on my list to attempt porting it to #Psion #EPOC16 for ages. It's not top priority, but the machine is perfectly designed for playing #textadventure games (see @root42's escapades with #Infocom).

Be great if it could decompile and play old games, too.

Exploring the many weird arcade games from the "Tiny Best Set". This one is fun. But... it's a little guy who looks half Japanese warrior and half medieval knight. There is a big red ball bouncing around. He shoots something like a party streamer upwards. The ball bursts into smaller balls when hit. Eventually they get so small that the party streamer destroys them.

But who is he? Where did the ball come from? Is it an evil spirit? Why burst it? So many questions.

I love how all video game people seem to absolutely loathe most FMV games from the early 90s and when the ambition was too early for the tech, but if I ever got the chance to design a video game it would absolutely be a 21st century update on the FMV game complete with cheesy acting and writing. #retrogaming

I’ve a history of being unimpressed with Apple’s self congratulatory, masturbatory product launches. So take that as context when I say: I don’t know what would make you look more ridiculous: Apple’s Vision Pro device, or actually paying thousands for it. But there’s a possibility that 5 years down the line, there’s a revision of this that costs less, and has been refined, and a good chunk of people are using it. AR is more compelling than VR. So, perhaps this is a Lisa or a pre-3G iPhone?
