Hailing from the Blue Ridge Mountains of Southwest Virginia, I'm a big time film nerd (with a particular love of David Lynch & 20th century horror), an avid reader of a broad range (but 70s 80s horror and sci-fi paperbacks and political history are my jam) and part-time poet when I'm less stable/more inspired, indie rock geek with a strong Americana twist. I'm ace-leaning and a committed friend of the Trans community, genderqueer he/they, mental health awareness advocate with schizoaffective.

This of IT by is narrated by Steven Weber and he does such a fantastic job, especially with all the voices he's asked to do including a lot of Maine accents, that I have a much greater appreciate for his acting talents and it makes me excited for getting to watching The Shining minseries he stars in which I picked up on a few months back for my watch through of Mike Garris's filmography.

On the second of the original 4 TV movies that make up what is now considered the first season of Lexx, and there is simply no other show like this. It veers from dark and satire to sex comedy to surreal and psychedelic epic to even and a musical number

And somehow, despite it definitely being a weird show, I don't get whiplash from it, its tone seems so comfortable with itself that it can touch on so much without falling apart.

They call being naked your "birthday suit" but that sounds like a really awkward birthday party

The only times I ever wish I didn't live by myself is when I'm trying to get this lidocaine cream right in the middle of my back.

This is the most middle aged thing I have ever said.

If you could really turn a DeLorean into a time machine, I'd really hope somebody would go back in time and warn John about the whole illegal FBI entrapment thing.

I'm generally not a fan of Maxwell House which I think is inferior to a lot of budget priced name brand coffees including its chief competitor in Folgers, however if you put the label "Caffeine Boosted" on your coffee you're gonna get my attention

Really disappointing that Fox didn't air Anthony "Fast Pasta" Alfredo's post-race interview.

He drives for a small team who often count top 20 runs as a really good day, and not only did he manage to qualify for the Dash 4 Cash $100K bonus by his finish at Talladega, but he had another tremendous run today scoring a second consecutive top 10 in a much less equalized track and beating some better funded equipment in order to score what is a huge cash infusion for a team like that.

On I saw a preview for a show where Orlando Bloom does extreme sports to "find something" in himself. I guess it would be too on the nose to call it "Orlando Bloom Has a Midlife Crisis"

As an extension of having really gotten into lately as somebody who doesn't drive and walks or rides the bus everywhere, the next nerdy thing I want to get into is radio plays. I found a collection of episodes of the original The Shadow series and have started researching BBC productions and radio play style podcasts too.

If anybody has any recommendations please let me! Especially into like and

I can't help but still love In the Aeroplane Over the Sea by Neutral Milk Hotel but I totally understand if a normal person listened to that album on your recommendation and their first impulse is to either beat you up and get a restraining order.

If I ever needed an advocate on my behalf, I'd always choose my step-mother who has never had a problem in all the time I've known her in telling somebody when they are wrong and fiercely fighting for small justice for herself and loved ones.

This is a long way of saying that I now have access back to my parents Netflix account after they password-share locked me out even though she pays extra so that multiple people can watch on the account, lol.

It was a full weekend of for me. was absolutely pointless and a total fizzle of empty hype their stock car brethren would be proud of and the Cup race was just alright, but the minor ranks really delivered and an race without a Red Bull victory is always welcome. Disappointed in myself I was too tired last night for drag racing and I had to decompress with some music.

I'm traveling this weekend, so glad it is less hectic, but had fun none the less.

A few days back I had kind of designated today as much chore day where I got the apartment back into shape after a few weeks of depression neglect, do some shopping, etc. As such I decided not to get stoned for once this morning.

Amazing the effect on my work ethic being sober and too caffeinated has, I've been going non-stop since like 6 AM doing chores that I had never planned to touch on when this morning began and on track to be largely finished with everything a little before noon.

The only national anthem other than the US's that I know some of the words to is because when I played video games as a kid I used to love to play as the Canadian teams just so they'd play their anthem before the game.

I want to start a book club that only reads books in William Shatner's entirely ghostwritten, critically reviled multimedia series TekWar. Once we end, we watch the TV movies and play the poorly received Doom-clone game too.

I don't know which aging cis males need to hear this, but you actually can criticize terrible female politicians without resorting to horribly sexist terminology and concepts. It is actually much more effective when you do!

So I did end up watching The Crow last night. I sometimes forget how overwrought and earnest 90s art could be, but I loved nearly every minute of it (the visuals, action, and soundtrack mostly) - it was like being transported back to 1994.

In my new project of watching every episode of the original run of Unsolved Mysteries on the Roku Channel, it only took until the 2nd episode until we got a and LARPing referencing Satanic Panic segment. It simply wouldn't be 1988 without it.

famousblueben,

@Tim_Eagon Oh yeah it totally did me too, I watched both reruns and first runs tons when I was a kid and I loved it, but it definitely freaked me out sometimes, especially when they'd do supernatural stuff like UFOs or whatever.

Sometimes on a whim I just decide to experience something different in life, and I couldn't decide on anything to watch tonight so I said "You know what I've never given much of a shot? outside of Pokemon or Dragon Ball Z" and got a Crunchyroll free trial. I watched some One Piece that was pretty entertaining and I watched the first episode of Cowboy Bebop which I actually quite enjoyed a lot. Does anybody have some suggestions of other stuff on there to sample?
