I recently bought a Nintendo Switch OLED (yeah I know new one will come out any year now). Really boggles my mind that Apple doesn't make a competing device, they already have just about every part to make a compelling handheld gaming device. Yeah its not going to be a trillion dollar project, but at least to me seems like super easy money.
Best solar generation of the year so far. 4.4 kWh. Not bad for January. I would be happy if it did this every day in the winter. Just goes to show what can be generated with winter sun.
The Rabbit R1 seems like a fun gadget built in partnership with Teenage Engineering, who are great at building joyful products. However, assuming their entire Language Action Model runs on some server, I struggle to understand why I need a dedicated device rather than an app. https://www.theverge.com/2024/1/9/24030667/rabbit-r1-ai-action-model-price-release-date
@MonaApp where can I switch the default language for a post? Every time I start to post it switches to my native language (Polish) while 99% of my posts (if not more) are in English.
@MonaApp Thank you! I think it might be a good idea (for people who post in different languages often, unlike me) to automatically adjust post language based on what they wrote:)
Can we return to purchasing software instead of subscribing to it?
I don't believe it will happen with popular software. Your best option is to vote with your wallet or use a FLOSS-based solution, provided it meets your needs.
@nixCraft@bazcurtis Unfortunately usually enough people will pay for the subscriptions to be profitable. And it does make a difference if it’s an indie developer trying to make an app sustainable vs. a mega corporation squeezing more $$$ out of their customers.
#Threads is testing federation for a few selected profiles. I'm now following @mosseri! It's one-way for now, but it's exciting. It's a step towards the interoperable social web that we've been advocating for 🙂
@bazcurtis@homeassistant@homeassistant@homeassistant You can only pair homekit device to one system (so either your home on Apple device or Home Assistant). You can pair it to HA, then re-expose to Apple Home via HomeKit bridge in HA.
I cancelled @1password to move to Apple Passwords, but Apple's solution just isn't there yet. I don't feel confident to make that move. For instance, I moved passwords into a shared group but all of a sudden they're gone from the group. That shouldn't happen!
I just renewed the subscription because 1Password is just a really super good solution! Thx @matt for that subscriptions blog post and for reintroducing the possibility that 1Password is actually worth paying for. 😄
@SENTINELITE@tomk@1password@matt First they nailed it, then they broke it in their own interest of being multi-platform, and forced buggy electron app on their customers
ok look I know this is really stupid and pedantic, but come on, we’ve had 26 years to learn this
It's Wi-Fi
not Wifi or WiFi or wifi or wi fi
Wi-Fi. Hyphenated. Both words capitalized.
thank you for coming to my ted talk
(while you're here, “log in" is two words when being used as a verb… your login button or link should not say "login”, because the action they take is to "log in”)
The new English autocorrect in iOS and iPadOS 17 truly is one of the unsung heroes of these software updates.
I've been writing entire blog posts for @macstories on my iPad and iPhone using the software keyboard and have enjoyed doing it in a way that wasn't the case since, I don't know, 2012?
The new system is incredibly good and I hope it expands to more languages soon.
@viticci@macstories It’s improved a lot for Polish too. I used to use Microsoft’s SwiftKey, but now Apple’s keyboard does it all: two languages in one, swipe typing, great autocorrect.
