@paul If it’s Zigbee you probably can’t go wrong with it, and you can always just return it ;) might be a good idea to check z2m device database though
@paul Definitely looks like the one I got, but it’s much more expensive than it was on AliExpress. Definitely shipped quicker though. There was also a ceiling variant that looked like a ceiling light.
@paul At that scale it’s a difference of the cost of one device. Bout you’ll probably want more eventually;) I know it’s not a big cost and you can get it much quicker that way.
@macrumors My wife still has a working one, and it can get through most of the day. I’ve replaced its battery a few years ago, as the original battery got swollen and pushed the display out. It didn’t damage anything and made it so much easier to open the watch and replace it;)
This article brilliantly describes the aggression and violence experienced by an opposition MP campaigning in eastern Poland. People shout she is a "traitor" or "Russian" or "German," reciting slogans directly from state TV.
Read it with google translate if you don't speak Polish:
On a fake "newsletter," printed by a fake foundation, offering false information, paid for by Polish taxpayers and distributed by the Polish postal service, designed to scare people into voting for the ruling party (and to hide their cash-for-visas scandal)
I'm looking for a rock solid < 15W pfSense box, that doesn't cost a fortune.
I could go with one of the various N5105 or N100 aliexpress “firewalls” + USB watchdog timer, but not sure how reliable that hardware is for just sitting there without being touched for months. Plus would always worry about the damned things catching on fire.
Other choice is actually a Mac Mini 2014, I know they are reliable, won't catch on fire and sip power. But no hardware watchdog option on these…
@paul I’ve been using one (https://amzn.to/3ZDrEGu) for Proxmox hosting OpenWRT, Home Assistant and few docker containers (Pi-hole, Omada controller, etc.) for a few months now (since April) I’ve put a 120mm PC fan on top of it though as it does get warm. It is stable though.
@paul Like I said, it’s been reliable for me. I’ve put it in a boiler room where my other server/NAS stuff is, so I’ve added that fan because of a bit higher ambient temperature. It’s a pretty great machine with 4*2.5Gbe, NVME slot and space for good amount of RAM.
After being there since November 2018, in countless releases, we finally lost at Reviewer Roulette. Mac App Store Review just made us take this little joke screenshot out of Transmit MAS. RIP to a medium-quality joke (it’s fine)
@krzyzanowskim@christianselig My wife has the old one, I have the lightning one. Batteries are not a bad idea (espiecially if you use rechargeable ones).
I love Passkeys, and also believe that Passkeys will, eventually, eliminate my need for 1Password (which I like — but would like to not need!). macOS/iOS Passkeys automatically sync to all my devices, they’re not a text string, they just work.
So, imagine my surprise when I just went to create a Passkey for Nintendo, and found that 1Password blocked and hijacked the system Passkey prompt… in favor of their own.
Just a convenience? Or artificial lock-in to protect 1Password’s future? Hmm
@cabel I don’t even like 1Password anymore (because of their horrible version 8) and don’t need it anymore (I’d probably still keep it if 8 wasn’t annoying), so I’m switching to iCloud Passwords
The Apple Watch Ultra 2 is still available for pickup on launch day in Apple Opéra as I'm visiting Paris 👀
I have an Apple Watch Series 5 that I can justify upgrading and part of me is so tempted to get this beauty of a watch but another part of me think I should wait a year for the rumored big refresh 😬
