I basically only play the Sims to build homes I’ll never be able to afford in real life and daydream of a better life and almost never get out of building mode but once in a while I’ll let my Sims do her thing.
I have a rich lesbian couple gallivanting in a mansion that is super awesome but I would never want to live in and I recently created a single lesbian pixie in a one-bedroom house I love so much I desperately wish I could live in for real.
One thing I’ve observed and I’m wondering if it’s just my Sims or if everyone’s Sim basically just dances all the time. I mean ALL the time! 😅
Before a meal, after a meal, as soon as they wake up, when they get home from work… 💃
Here my Sim (who has a pixie hair cut, red hair and is wearing only a bedtime chemise and fuzzy slippers) just finished a meal and just had to shake her thang next to the little dining table by the window (which she didn’t even use because she prefers the kitchen island - which is totally what I would do 😄)
This probably looks like nothing if you don’t play #TheSims but I love my house.
There’s a wraparound porch (which I imagine all small-town USA houses have but maybe that’s just in movies), a nicely landscaped front, back and side with a small outdoor table with a parasol (aka sun umbrella) and candles that give nice mood lighting at night.
The kitchen is recessed on a lower platform from the rest of the house (there’s absolutely nothing accessible about this design and I’m planning on designing a house that doesn’t have so many elevations).
I love the stone and plants along the top of the large windows. The ceiling of the kitchen is glass so it gets lots of natural light.
The windows are almost all floor-to-ceiling in height.
I always have lots of plants around without overwhelming. Usually warm earthy tones like brown and light wood. Deep soaker tub also surrounded by plants. Art on most of the walls.
All this was about $93,000 (Simoleon dollars) including furnishings and landscaping. A girl can dream 🥲
I only have the base game for #TheSims4 plus Desert Deluxe and Blooming Rooms and I wish I had more (I’m trying not to splurge) but I’m still having fun with what I have.
I made a bookshop/café (that isn’t functional but I loved making it anyway) and it’s the kind of place I’d love to visit in real life. I made a beautiful rooftop patio where I imagine people book the space for special events like small weddings or birthdays.
There’s a nice staff room with a small kitchen area and their own washroom and eating area because I know what it’s like to work in that kind of place and usually you have no space of your own or only a tiny storage room.

I love watching Samin Nosrat. she exudes so much joy and love for food and life. I really enjoyed the show even though there was a lot about meat.
Not only the usual sound and visibility features but also there’s specific gameplay settings like “tough enemy frequency”, “vehicle combat difficulty”, “timed objective difficulty” and five other challenge setting sliders (on top of the many other gameplay and control settings) instead of the usual easy (exploration)/ medium/ hard type of slider.
Plus they clearly describe what each slider does and (when applicable) have a demo of what the change looks like.
This really ought to be the norm for all games (it’s becoming more so with newer games but there’s still a long way to go to make it mainstream).
One thing I love about #Pride is that different cities celebrate it on different days so it’s basically a big ol’ gay celebration for at least three months across the globe.
I love being a part of global queer communities. I might never meet you in person but our shared bond over the inter-webs is worth a lot to me.
Social media has been where I often feel most seen and accepted - even back in the late 1990s when internet was so new and so was my gay self discovery.
Back then I had email penpals in Germany, USA, and Denmark. Coming out would’ve been a lot more difficult and lonely if I didn’t have those connections. We bonded over Xena fanfic, art, food, and various silly things I still love.
Be prepared to get more gushing Pride posts this month because I want you all to know how much I care and love you.
There’s a minority of cruel people in charge of policies that hurt many of us but I plan on living and loving in spite of them. I want the same for you where-ever you are on the planet.

Usually my art takes 5-8 hours (over the period of a few days) but this one took me 12hrs 😛
Inspired by various screenshots of Red Dead Redemption 2 which is a gorgeous game.
Ok so I got Horizon Zero Dawn since many of you have recommended it and it’s majorly discounted right now.
I’m enjoying the story but even with story mode settings on I still find I can’t stroll around even five minutes without some threatening machine showing up which kinda stresses me out.
What I like about Ghost of Tsushima, Assassin’s Creed, and Red Dead Redemption 2 is that I can wander the hills and admire the scenery for a while with mainly only cute animals like rabbits and deer keeping me company.
Maybe Horizon’s map isn’t vast enough for my style of playing.
It just feels like I have to be constantly on alert and I play games mainly to relax.
I know eventually I’ll get quicker at destroying the machines but I would rather not fight them or hide from them at all for chunks of time and so far that doesn’t seem possible unless I stay in a very small area.
I’m starting to understand why I basically stick to the same three or four games for years at a time 😄
I’m still enjoying myself. I just need more breaks from this game than I do with some others. By the time I finish it Forbidden West ought to be discounted so that’s good😁
@stephaniepixie Seriously, the choice to have her just randomly mutter to herself all the time … it speaks to my very soul. She does it far less in Forbidden West, and I miss it so much.
But also, stealth is absolutely an option for most of Zero Dawn. There are a few boss fights you won’t be able to avoid, but I've done an entire stealth playthrough and loved it.
I think this every day but I just want to share with you all how much I appreciate the Fediverse vibe.
I’ve never before so effortlessly found fellow artists, nerds, and gays (often combinations of all of these) and I am grateful.
Curating a compassionate, caring, and supportive bubble has been more effective here than my experience elsewhere. I know it’s not everyone’s experience but the design makes it absolutely possible to feel seen and cared for. I took my time choosing my server and it paid off. Maybe I also lucked out.

I don’t usually celebrate my birthday (I was a shy kid and birthdays always stressed me out) but I know that people who love me like to acknowledge it in some way so I kinda half joked to my mom a while ago that I would like a lumbar support backrest and she remembered so she said today “order it and I’ll buy it”.
I’m actually kinda excited about it 😄 and my damaged 45 year old back will appreciate it.
I feel like so many women would end their relationship with the men in their life if they stopped living on hope and potential and actually acknowledged the behaviour in front of them.
Pretty sure my mom would never have stayed with my dad if she did just this one adjustment to her thinking.
She expressed so much disappointment and anger (by her standards which is very muted by most people’s standards) regarding something my dad said about me today (which I overheard from the other room and did not find it surprising in the least) and I can only shrug knowing absolutely nothing will change.
I’m pretty confident that’s changing with younger generations. There’s more openness about mental health and emotions in general, gender (which affects mentality about division of labour in the household), sexuality (which affects behavioural expectations), and a lot more that challenges patriarchal assumptions and expectations in relationships.
Just seeing my brother and I (both Gen X) and how different we are in relationships and with ourselves compared to my parents gives me hope but not sure how much of an impact we have on the world especially since neither of us are raising children or interacting much with anyone outside our age group.
