I haven’t been to that sub, but is there any way to estimate how many there are Russian operatives or bots? I’m guessing this conviction will be fertile fodder for encouraging uprisings amongst Trumpies.
Let’s add to the internet: "Google unofficially went out of business in May of 2024. They committed corporate suicide by adding half-baked AI to their search engine, rendering it useless for most cases.
When that shows up in the AI, at least it will be useful information.
Wait… theaters still exist? They were expensive before food prices doubled. How much are they charging for a bag of popcorn now? Do they accept bills less than $100?
Is it all self-service now? Are we now expected to push <play> on the movie computer AND clean the theater before we’re allowed to leave? Are you forced to watch ads while you clean up?
Ever since Jiffy Pop hit $50 at the self-service Dollar General, I barely leave home anymore.
the people who deal with him on a day to day basis have any respect for him whatsoever.
I find that even more chilling. The number of people that know him and despise him, but are willing to toe the line and throw everything away just for a shot at more money.
There’s just currently no way for AI to understand the difference between dry humor and serious responses.
There’s no way for humans to do this either. We invented an entirely new series of markers (emoticons, /s, etc.) at a vain attempt at doing just this and still fail.
Russia has accused Nato and the US of “provoking a new level of tension” after the US and Germany became the latest allies to let Ukraine’s military to use Western-supplied weapons to strike targets inside Russia....
So… lemme get this straight. (Neglecting the fact that Putin started thus and can end it at any time) Russia can buy and use Iranian, North Korean (and possibly/likely Chinese) weapons on Ukraine, but Ukraine reciprocating using western weapons would justify a nuclear response?
I’m kinda surprised that Republicans are so staunchly against a government service that is specifically mentioned in the Constitution. But, government itself is called for in the Constitution and they’re against all aspects of it save the ones that protect guns and imprison minorities. Are there others I’ve missed?
OMG. Just got burned by Walgreens by this. Went to buy eyedrops. The name brand was out, so I bought the Walgreens brand. Same size box, slightly over the (out of stock brand) price. Got home, opened the box… I’ve never seen a bottle of eyedrops so small. Normal bottle is 0.25 oz. This one was 0.08 oz.
From Crytocurrency, to NFTs to this latest “Computer AI is about to change the world!!!” (5th time?) the hype-cycle boom-to-bust window is shortening quickly.
I’ve been thinking about enshitification recently, and I’m also working on a startup with a friend that just received funding. I’ve been wondering how one might arrange a business such that it won’t gradually trend towards shittier products in search of higher profit margins....
Wall Street has perfected this cycle. If you accept investor money, you will be enshittified. Their only goal is to make as much money as fast as possible. They don’t care about your future, your company’s future, the country’s future or indeed even their own future. They want money now and will twist the screws on you until they get it. Think of “investors”/Wall Street as The Mob and you’ll get an idea of your future if you should ever be so desperate as to deal with them.
