I am not exaggerating this:

I created a new hostname in DNS, then added it to my existing webserver config.

It was online for 3 seconds -- 3! -- before getting a 404 request for /.git/config.

If you're relying on obscurity to protect your services, get that right out your fool head today. You have about 3 seconds to get your act together.

@nikatjef @miki That's only between master and slave services (forgive old terminology), used to sync their records for serving to the rest of the Internet. It's not used to push new records to other servers.

At work we routinely watch videos of customers using our product with various assistive technologies. It’s always enlightening. If your product team isn't doing this, nudge them into it.

If you are on Ivory’s TestFlight, you should be able to try out our brand new share sheet on iOS and Mac. It's not perfect, but should be a huge improvement! Give it a try and let us know what you think.

You can access it by going to a page in your browser (or an image in your photo library), hitting the share icon, and then choosing Ivory's icon from the list.

@ivory Probably not. I saw the screenshots and my mind raced ahead of reality.

This is what I was thinking about, though. Here is the shortcut for posting via Mona and Ivory. Mona gives enough options that I can automate some simple processes. I like using Ivory more, but I keep Mona around because of these options.

Three headlines I saw in a row:

  • "Hospitals have been profitable for most of 2023"

So hospitals are making money, they're refusing service to people who can't pay up front, and they're not paying their staff.

I'm about ready to run to the hardware store for some pitchforks.
