When you’re constantly inflicted with advertising it’s the fish not seeing the water story. Fuck advertising propaganda and malware networks. Fuck advertising without consent in public spaces. And most of all fuck reddit for betraying their mods and users and treating them like pieces of shit because they can get away with it.

This is a similar idea to culture jamming, people would put subversive books in libraries and book stores, change labels on products in supermarkets, etc. It’s not a bad way to draw attention to something people are already accustomed to seeing.

The world must seem like a scarier place for someone this stupid. Can’t understand primary or secondary research sources, everything looks like claims because of a lack of understanding of evidence, never learned how to critically evaluate conclusions from observations, etc.

Governments banning social media based on who can use it to spy on who, instead of creating privacy regulations and enforcing them to create and regulate markets, which is kinda what they should do, to make it so it doesn’t matter who owns which app. Taking an opportunity and shitting all over it for some childish standoff should be beneath us.

Selection bias, Self selection bias, reward bias, bias in the questions and how they are presented, etc. You have to really know some stuff to not have a fucked survey result and even then some of those biases will still be present. If they don’t even bother with error % boundaries it’s probably going to have some other problems too.

Begotten is probably the most inaccessible I’ve seen. Least known I used to do some 48-hour film festival we’d watch everyone’s in a local theater at the end and most of those never get a general release so any of those are the least available or seen. Most indies I’ll watch these days are horror or drama movies. One of my favorites is the man from Earth not exactly underground but definitely under most radars.

There’s a video game journalist I have similar tastes to and trust for recommendations. Used to have one for movies now I usually listen more to directors for recommendations, never found one for TV. I usually get music recommendations from friends.

If I had to pick one Swamp Thing. good horror/suspense, lots of places to go with the art and story, & bumps into some of the weirder cast of DC characters too.

Not being able to discuss politics at work is not really the case for everyone though, it’s worker politics that aren’t allowed, if the politics agree with the owner class they’ll set up a PAC for it. Whoever heard of an executive or board member fired for discussing politics that paint the organization in a positive light? I also think it’s worth pointing out most companies would fire for this and are authoritative in structure and don’t allow for democratic practices like elections, petitioning, protesting, etc. Just because it’s that way now doesn’t mean it always will be with good labor protections.

All trials should be available to the public (video, transcript, etc). Body cams on cops and court cameras, transparency is necessary for justice.

Cancelled all services a couple months ago that offer an ad+sub tier. I’m ok with ads for free or sub, but mix them and that kind of greediness like cable TV i can’t abide. It’s given me more time for other hobbies I’d rather be doing anyways.

The only thing the Bible says about abortion is how to perform one, and many American Christian organizations were on the side of safe abortions performed by medical doctors until recently. Their scriptures didn’t change, medical science didn’t change, so why do they now oppose abortion? The primary reason I can see is clergy and politicians working together to undermine women’s rights. They don’t care if they are hypocrites or hurt people because they feel justified by their faith despite faith being an awful reason to believe anything is true. I don’t understand how anyone can say churches are apolitical and deserve tax free status.

In space sciences coming up are new manned Moon missions followed hopefully by some Mars missions. Also LISA is a huge interferometer that is planned to be deployed in orbit by ESA around 2035. Different size interferometers can measure different wavelengths of gravitational waves. LIGO (the interferometer observatory already in action measuring black hole collisions) has arms 4km long and can measure wavelengths in the range of 7Khz-30hz. LISA will have arms 2.5 million km long in orbit around the sun and is expected to be able to measure much much smaller waves.

The Guardian US: Trump cancels North Carolina rally due to storm in first public address since New York trial (www.theguardian.com)

Trump follows with postings about how the beautiful mother nature whom he’s always respected has joined the witch trial by continuing to keep him from speaking. But at least he could catch up on some rest.

Unusable for me with ads as well. Grey loading screen and choppy audio instead of actually loading ads, never gets to the video. If I reopen the video a few times to skip the ad the video loads fine. No problems with online gaming, streaming services, etc so I know it’s their shit Roku app and ad network and not me. Ad blockers make it actually usable.

TeX. I was able to use it during school for some beautiful type setting and formatting but nobody I work with wants to use anything other than plain text or unfortunately more commonly binary wysiwyg editor formats. It’s frustrating and ugly.
