It's windy today, getting up to 65mph this morning, and on days like this the little feathery folk flock to the bird feeders. We've even seen come co-existence rather than chasing away, which is their usual bad-tempered preference.
The greenfinch is disdainful, the goldfinch's attitude belies its size, the reed bunting is never still

More birdie folk. Bobs, the bobin always pitches up in the thick of it. But that greenfinch has "Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting" going on in its head, for sure.
The big cage around the feeder is to prevent the local rock dove population from descending locust-like and stripping the feeders bare in minutes.
All pics taken from the living room, through the window.

It's been sunny and calm all day, and warm too at a peak of 13.5°C
It's hard to believe the forecast that we'll have a full gale or more blowing by tomorrow morning.

I thought I'd get a battery to maintain the RTC on our new Raspberry Pi 5. The official one is about £4.90, and is a tiny coin lithium battery.
But no-one will ship one to the wilds of Scotland - anywhere in Scotland. Apparently, sending via mail within England and Wales is fine, but Something Happens when crossing the border.
One company did offer to send it for £55 - providing they were able to remove the lithium battery. Er........

I may have mentioned this before, but decades ago, while sailing in Table Bay one day, we spotted this rather fearsome little boatie and took this pic.
Years later, we found ourselves in Brisbane, and visited the museum, where we saw the boat! The sailor had made it.
We have friends in Brisbane a the moment, and have just been chatting to them, which reminded me.
This is the story:

Any tips for dealing with hayfever in Japan? The over-the-counter claritin does... zero. I was hoping it might pass in a week or so, but I remain a goopy mess.

I could... visit the doctor... but that seems like a lot of hassle compared to just asking everyone on mastodon 😉

(Japan medicine tends to be different brands, and often weaker, than the overseas counterpart. I know what I could get in the UK or US, but unsure if there's anything reasonably effective in Japan.)

@elizabethtasker Looks like you;ve fond something, but for what it's worth, I went through a phase of severe hayfever some years back. Heavy doses of vitamin C seemed to help, and the following year, I started taking it before hay fever season, which was much better. Can't recall how much I took, but it was a lot, which was apparently the trick. Also can't recall where I saw this suggestion, but maybe it's look-uppable.

So I'm guessing when you have lots of muscle strains, and pains in your fifties that all clears up and it's smooth sailing by your sixties, right?

Asking for a friend.

@ottaross Oh sure.
On an unrelated note, I've discovered what that footrest in the car is for.

At an early preview of some panels of The Great Tapestry if the Highlands. This panel seems appropriate for today, international women's day. The Gaelic reads "Women's Work."
This panel is special as it features a lot if herself's @HelenLockhart hand dyed yarn

@withaveeay@mastodon.scot avatar

@HelenLockhart Among other colours of her yarn, Helen was asked to come up with a colourway that represented peat. Don't you think she nailed it with this, the section immediately under the writing?

    Thus, they are often forced to improvise.

    Having recently started following https://mastodon.scot/@fesshole@mastodon.social I remembered there was once a radio programme in which listeners phoned in with similar "confessions", but focused on getting revenge.
    One person phoned in to say she'd left her husband after discovering his affair with her best friend. She still had the keys to the house, so she sneaked in one day and stuffed frozen prawns into the hollow tubes of the curtain rail in the bedroom. She then watched as exterminators, deep cleaners etc
