super sweaty and exhausted, sure, but what do you expect after 360 push ups, 200 reverse crunches, 60 bicep curls, 30 reps of five different back exercises, and running two miles? 💅

Hey Millennials. Gen X here.

I saw a post from one of you guys that read "Our retirement plan is social collapse".

Our retirement plan when we were growing up well into adulthood was thermonuclear oblivion.

I get where you're coming from, but I would suggest having a Plan B for just in case when civilization doesn't collapse on schedule.

@ai6yr Norwegians who come to visit Minnesota are honestly confused why we consider Lutefisk a delicacy over here. "It's gross." and "We have refrigerators now." are the usual observations made.

I actually don't mind the rain. I'm just hoping that we don't get like a summer's worth of it before June and then nothing for the following three months, just like the last two years have been like.

These four screenshots comprising of a 30-tweet thread you did on X could have been a blog post.

Ironically, the screenshots were all properly alt-texted. I mean, if you went through the effort, you could have just posted... the text.

Haha, I have to ask people, because I can't Google it: ARE there any good search engines out there? Ones that still actually search the internet?

zalasur,
@zalasur@mastodon.surazal.net avatar

@mishellbaker I've asked that one myself and followed another thread by someone asking that same question, and the general consensus is that the best alternative at the moment is DuckDuckGo.

Just an FYI, I did not get hacked. I replied to somebody with a long CW that originated from the Georgia Humane Society as a joke apparently. When you reply to a post with a CW your post automatically has that CW, too.

That made it look like I was posting a singles ad from my account.

I've deleted my post just in case anyone got the wrong impression.

So I have this hypothesis that people who never listen to music past their teenage years do so because of a traumatic event in their childhood.

Music became a comfort to them during this time which switched it from being just enjoyable, to being enjoyable plus emotionally comforting.

Hence the desire not to listen to music outside of that comfort zone because any music past that, is no longer comforting and no longer serves a need.

Or not. I don't know. It's just a thought.

zalasur,
@zalasur@mastodon.surazal.net avatar

@Mrfunkedude I think there might be some truth to this, but I know a lot of people whose music listening habits stopped at around the age of 17 for some perfectly banal reasons.

I love listening to new music. I also like to go back to the classics I grew up with too, but there's joy in discovering new things that artists are coming out with in 2024.

Whenever someone says, "they don't make songs like they used to" I feel bad because they clearly aren't listening. It's a preconception filter.

It's been almost a decade since I've done a live coding stream. This will be fun!

Today I'll be migrating my website from React to Lit, which is a lightweight framework built around web components. I have the scaffolding set up mostly, so now it's time to get this done.

Come watch. Ask questions in chat! You don't need to create an account, just a username is needed to participate.
