I assume that the scantily clad lady in the background is there to give an aura of heterosexuality. It's not working.

@GayOldTime why why why is he holding the binoculars backwards?!! Is that some secret code for “I like to snog men.”?

I was pretty sweaty in these pics, so there's lots of smells happening in lots of very hairy places where I bet a lot of you would've loved to shove your face 😘

(ignore the band-aid on my arm, it's just protecting my stitches 💖)

Similar pose to the previous picture, but instead of grabbing my cock, I have both arms behind my head to show off my armpits, and you can see all of my cock and my heavy balls surrounded by a dense black bush of pubic hair where my legs are spread.

@queersamus I would be so down for everything I see and smell in those pictures! 🥵🐷

Fun fact: I've been a software engineer for 23 years but I know my way around a print shop after growing up in one.

From old school light tables, shooting & developing negatives, burning plates, and running offset spot-color presses to more modern desktop publishing tech, process color, and direct-to-printer jobs. I helped my father's business through the digital transformation of that industry.

I use none of of it today but retain a fondness for typography and get twitchy about bad kerning.

@gairdeachas Cool! My mother was in magazine publishing, and I also learned many of these things. I remember learning how to do layout with strips of copy from the phototypesetter and wax rollers.

A cock horse is, of course, an old fashioned name for a hobby horse. And a gay cock horse is a phrase you'll never see in a magazine ad today.

    Hey, auth experts, what's the ~~ vibe ** on passwordless auth using an email link? Would you use it on a Very Serious Website?

    zero,
    @zero@woof.group avatar

    @est yes, I know - hence why e-mail is such a security target now.

    But this just tells us that password auth fails users at scale. We've known this for decades, but done nothing about it.

    We either needed ubiquitous support for better password management - or a system w/o passwords. I developed one of the later, but because it also kept identity in the hands of the users, big tech didn't want it (despite funding the development!)

    zero,
    @zero@woof.group avatar

    @est

    E-mail is fast becoming the single point of failure for everything.

    IF you take security of your e-mail seriously (2 factor auth, notification of trusted person on logins, etc.) THEN sure, use it on a V.S.W.

    But if I were building a V.S.W., I wouldn't trust my users to secure their e-mail, so I wouldn't build it with passwordless auth via email.

    [Disclaimer: I ran a security research project at G. for years to create better auth. methods. I might be a little opinionated!]

    GHCup, the tool for downloading, installing, updating, managing versions of all the pieces of the Haskell toolchain, is the best thing out there for this kind of thing, positively no contest

    zero,
    @zero@woof.group avatar

    @taber Oh... nice. I need to check if it supports GHCJS....

    zero,
    @zero@woof.group avatar

    @robdaemon @taber - For the web, I generally use elm-lang - which enough like Haskell to make me enjoy programming, but missing enough to occasionally make me sad.

    The functional web page model of elm-lang is a joy to code. And amazing how efficient it is.

    Miso is a web framework for Haskell inspired by elm-lang's web model. It uses GHCJS,

    Historically, installing GHCJS has been a huge pain in the tuchus. Miso relies on nix to do so... but I've tried to avoid nix on my system.

    It occurs to me that there's probably a market (unmet(?) need) to help individuals and SMBs configure SPF, DKIM, and DMARC but I think the hussle of getting business isn't worth the return.

    For instance, I convince the local place who tinted my car windows they need to set that up to help ensure their appointment emails get to their customers -- which probably takes more effort than doing the work. Then do it all again for the next SMB.

    1/x

    zero,
    @zero@woof.group avatar

    @gairdeachas that’s the problem with this idea right there: it’s 15 min. of work to investigate where they are, and half an hour to do the set up… another few minutes to test. What could you legitimately charge for this hour of work? $300?

    You’ll spend even more time finding clients and explaining what it is they need and why.

    Today I had to once again tell someone that the Unicode GREEK QUESTION MARK gets NFC normalized into SEMICOLON and is thus not distinguishable after normalization.

    Now I can expect that they will argue that we shouldn't be doing NFC normalization to which I will point them to the design doc wherein we discussed why we made the decisions we did (yay past-me for writing those up).

    And I will never get those brain cells back for something less esoteric. Ever.

    might fuck around and invent a programming language where everything is a "map”

    function? map.

    variable? that's a map.

    class? you better believe that's a mapping.

    (please do not take me seriously)

    zero, (edited )
    @zero@woof.group avatar

    @est all the other “it’s just _____” are wrong: It’s actually just Haskell, only it’s spelled fmap
