Finally something worse than “looking for 10yrs of SwiftUI experience”

@RogerBW @shimminbeg @DarkestKale @kangaroo5383 @BigJackBrass There are hundreds of native Esperanto speakers (even many multi-generational ones) and I doubt that a high percentage of their parents were surprised that the language changed. It is well-known, there's an entire Wikipedia article about how it changes (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Native_Esperanto_speakers).

Is there a punctuation if you want to say something, but also signal that the other person could correct it (so something between "." and "?"). The interrobang ‽ has a different meaning.

Look, I get it. Jack wants the freedom to sport that godawful beard and Twitter is genuinely the only place where wannabe billionaire simps won't roast him for having facial hair that somehow screams "white supremacist billy goat".

@lowqualityfacts Do we really have to insult his appearance? Are his actions not unethical enough?

The techbro fantasy that the brain is a “biological computer” really reminds me of when physicistbros discovered that the fabric of the universe isn’t a “clockwork”.

zvavybir,
@zvavybir@social.zvavybir.eu avatar

@thomasfuchs I never really understood that debate, so it's no surprise that also now I don't get what you mean, but … what do you mean (iff you're so nice to indulge me)? How isn't the universe (not) a clockwork? I mean, no one thinks there are actual clock gears (I hope), but only that physics follows some rules (which is of course true, or not?).

Owncast is awesome! I just played around a little with it and it just works! You genuinely can go in under a minute from not having ever heard of it to streaming over your own server! See https://owncast.online/quickstart/installer/ for how.

We really need more software that just works and is beautiful and user-(i.e. human)-respecting!

    @lzg The irony of your post itself causing someone to have to google it …😆

    It frustrates me a little that searching ‘lgbt + country’ is usually about whether or not it’s safe for western queer people to travel to that country, instead of about queer people in that country

    zvavybir,
    @zvavybir@social.zvavybir.eu avatar

    @skinnylatte Have you tested that with the search term translated into the local language (or with a country whose language is English)? Because – assuming you haven't – I think it's pretty reasonable to focus on if a place is safe for those who are asking the question (i.e. for English speakers) instead on if for those living there. (But I of course get what you mean – that we always make everything about ourselves…)

    I believe in the value of files, but I'm not convinced that folders are the best way to organize them.

    Files (in open-standard formats) are our most powerful weapon against walled gardens! If you can take your things effortlessly from app to app! Allowing you to switch apps at a whim or combine multiple apps together.

    There can be great business risk in not recognizing how mission-critical your files are. How you want them to outlast any particular service or software.

    Ooooo, idea!

    @zvavybir@social.zvavybir.eu avatar

    @alcinnz Congratulations, you just invented a new, incompatible way to store something that will eventually act just like a file path! Just have the idea a couple decades earlier and you'd be hailed as a great inventor.

    (Sorry for the snark, I don't want to be mean – I myself often notice I just reinvented a version of something already wildly used. See XKCD 1367…)

    Is there a well-used hashtag like for people without formal diagnosis, so who aren't entirely sure?
