Man, in 2023, it's really hard to get heard through all of the macho "git gud" guff but as a fan of Armored Core since its inception: this game is not what I was expecting. I am disappointed....
As a long-time Tenchu fan, I feel this was about Sekiro to be honest. It started life as Tenchu 5, then got turned mid-development into Sekiro. I just wish it had a bigger emphasis on stealth, rather than just swordfighting...
Expected to arrive at the end of the year, Cities Skylines 2 increasingly shows what is his goal: after some promotional trailers, the game seems to aim for
I'm hoping (more than likely in vain) that we can have the opportunity to do some of the wackier stuff seen in SimCity: Societies. By that, I mean I would love to craft an authoritarian police state, a beautiful pagoda-filled village or a Disney-esque paradise town.
SimCity: Societies was very bad in a lot of aspects (game froze all the time, roads were awful and it was massively unbalanced) but I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss it at all when it comes to city building. I just wanna make clown schools and have a bunch of free-roaming clowns, damnit.
I also use Nord. I think it's fine, but self-hosted and open would be better (since you for SURE know what data is passing through and what is happening with it). With Nord it's like a "trust me bro" black box.
That said, I trust Nord enough for my needs. I don't do anything too secretive on the VPN and frankly I think the 80/20 is in favor of just using Nord over self-hosting (I don't really have time for that).
You're totally right that self-hosting will not help to keep your data private by virtue of just doing it. I was moreso adding that self-hosting will allow you to see your own logs, know exactly what's running under the hood, etc.
Even if you "self host" on a cloud instance or rack elsewhere, you've still got ISPs there who will see all your traffic.
One of the key benefits of VPNs is that your stuff is usually encrypted in-transit, so while the ISP will technically get your data no matter what, they won't be able to do anything with it.

Discord nickname that originated from OneShot (the game my icon is from). I chose it like 4 or 5 years ago and it stuck on Discord so I just adopted it to here
My one big gripe with Mastadon is that images take absolutely forever to load if they have even a marginal amount of pixels. I scroll art often and I'm left waiting for greater than a minute for these things to load (and I'm on a very, very fast connection).
I’m starting this off by saying that I’m looking for any type of reasonably advanced photo manipulation tool, that runs natively under Linux. It doesn’t have to be FOSS....
I see i can find a foss version on f-droid, and that’s something not a lot of social networks can have, i don’t really like all the crypto bullshit and ads testing they’ve been up to lately, but still looks better to me compared to what Reddit have done lately or what other platforms have done in these years…...
