Ubisoft Can Delete Inactive Accounts, Making Users Lose Access to Their Games (gamerant.com)

In a response to a post from the AntiDRM Twitter account, Ubisoft Support has clarified that users who don’t sign in to their account can potentially lose access to Ubisoft games they’ve purchased. The initial post from AntiDRM featured a snippet of an e-mail sent to a user from Ubisoft notifying them that their account had...

Pokémon Sleep: Japanese walkthrough site lists “sleeping pills” as a tool for real competitive sleepers, but quickly backtracks (automaton-media.com)

A Japanese video game walkthrough listing sleeping pills as one of their recommended methods to get high scores in Pokémon Sleep has gone viral on Japanese Twitter recently. The mention of sleeping aid has since been deleted from the site.

Suggestion: Thread Entanglement, or automatic merging of duplicate threads

See the quick inspect-element mockup I put together for an example. I'm bad at design, but I think it gets the point across. Current implementation on left, suggested on right. Also, I'm using Kbin Enhancement Suite for the modifications to instance names, but I think they are even more useful for this demonstration....

Is there any indication for edited comments?

I was looking at a comment I left earlier today (several hours earlier) and realized I made a typo, and went to edit it. I'm used to Reddit putting a little asterisk next to the comment's timestamp to indicate that it was edited, but I'm not seeing anything like this on Kbin. Is this something that's tracked somewhere for users...

I feel like the reason , and the at large, aren't taking off has to do with the fact that they're actually social networks. People don't seem to want a social network, they want content platforms. People aren't using or or to keep up with their friends these days, they're using these apps to entertain themselves. And since and every other platform that used to be a social network began pivoting toward content promotion, I think society has forgotten what a social network is supposed to actually be anymore.

Bethesda Is Changing The Way You Pickpocket In Starfield (www.gamespot.com)

Thanks to a video posted by Reddit user OkPain2022, we're given a glimpse of how pickpocketing will work. Of course, you'll still need to approach them by crouching, and after you do that, a prompt will appear, allowing you to steal from them. After that, another menu will appear, showing you what they have and the odds of you...

[Chron] Ted Cruz says 'Barbie' movie pushes Chinese propaganda on young girls (www.chron.com)

U.S. Senator and documented Princess Bride superfan Ted Cruz is back with a new movie take. In an interview with the conservative media website the Daily Signal, Cruz asserted that the upcoming Barbie movie, which releases this weekend, pushes Chinese Communist Party Propaganda on young women.

What does the red dotted line next to some top-level comments mean?

I've noticed that some comments on threads will have a red, dotted line next to them, almost like it's the color coding for child comments, but it shows up occasionally on a top-level comment which has no parent comment. I've tried looking at the accounts where I see this, but I can't find any patterns for it yet, myself. Any...

Reddit admins appear to be removing links to Lemmy instances posted in comments.I'm seeing quite a few "[Removed by Reddit]" comments in /r/RedditAlternatives this evening. Anybody else seeing their comments being manipulated by Reddit staff today?

Will /kbin eventually support the more "advanced" microblog platforms like Misskey or Firefish?

It looks like right now, you can view /kbin users and content from Misskey and Firefish instances, but not the other way around; I'm not able to view my accounts from either of those instances here on /kbin. From what I can tell, I can only view content from Mastodon and Pixelfed instances....

[My San Antonio] Texas residents with fake service dogs will be fined $1k under HB 4164 (www.mysanantonio.com)

HB 4164, which passed both chambers and took effect on September 1, makes the false representation of animals as service animals a crime punishable by $1,000 and up to 30 hours of community service. Both locals and legislators alike are saying the misrepresentation of service dogs has increased challenges for those really in...
