AzPsycho,

I visit it for a couple of subs that are not active on here. For the most part it feels the same. I never really cared for the karma system, gold, etc. So switching to Lemmy for me was more about just trying to find a place not being bombarded by ads, bots, and corporate policies.

I think reddit will survive the Exodus of users simply because Twitter is so badly managed that reddit may actually supplant it for a while. However, the drive to monetize all aspects of our lives is actually getting some push back from users so Lemmy may continue to grow in the next few years.

The biggest issues facing Lemmy isn’t content though. It’s ease of adoption.

The Supreme Court is out of control and must be reformed (www.dailykos.com)

The majority then announced, with an opinion from Chief Justice John Roberts, that it was overthrowing the student loan forgiveness program, granting a request from six Republican state attorneys general on behalf of a loan servicer, the Missouri Higher Education Loan Authority, that did not want to be used as a plaintiff....

I obviously did no such thing. I'm pretty sure I didn't upload or comment anything sexual at all, let alone something involving minors. Wouldn't that warrant a permanent ban anyway, instead of 3 days?

Of course I appealed, because I would like to know exactly which comment violated their rules, but I'm not really expecting a reply.

I do find it highly suspicious that the ban came 1 hour after I made a critical comment on ModCoord... (screenshot attached)

The kbin.social/stats page actually reflects a count from the instance DB, which includes federated accounts/posts/comments. Check https://kbin.social/nodeinfo/2.0 for just local instance stats, it's about 20K for kbin.social. 125K I think is lemmy and kbin combined considering all lemmy instances is ~100K, kbin.social is ~20K, and fedia.io in second place is ~2K.

fedidb.org also uses the nodeinfo (and shows the raw data when you click into a specific instance), though it lags slightly, I think by 6 hours maybe more as it still shows only ~6K for kbin.social instead of 20K.

My biggest problem with kbin

The biggest problem with kbin is honestly quite simple, but I don't people is talking about is the fact that finding the magazines that I'm subscribed to is in Settings > Subscribed, on Reddit, it's literally in the top bar, I don't get why it's buried in settings. Another thing is why is my home page full of posts from...

How can we smooth out the migration and help promote kbin/lemmy to subreddits and redditors?

I think the biggest thing we need to figure out is how to make it sound easier than people say it is. People get too hung up on the technicalities of how the fediverse works, and they never try it out and see that it isn't as confusing as it sounds. If we could write up a simple blurb to help promote kbin to subreddit moderators...

I've just migrated from Reddit and after two days I think i finally get it.

It's like a group of Reddit servers all connected. That's it.

If you need to explain further: A group of Reddit servers, all (mostly) connected, each with their subreddits, and you can see them all.

Kbin would be a special Reddit client that can connect to these groups of servers and also provide Twitter-like capabilities for its subreddits.

No need to complicate it with fancy words like Federated and what not. Just ooga bunga, easy concepts.

We can expect more changes like this, changes that will hurt the user and drive it off site.

Pssst... any ideas for a domain name for the new instance?

Hi there! I've been trying to improve the situation for the past few hours. I managed to disable CF Protection, and as you can see, I'm gradually allowing traffic from the fediverse. There may still be delays in deliveries and posts for some time. If anything is particularly troublesome, please let me know through the contact...

I’d rather hand money directly to kbin than have to deal with ads. Just my $.02
