And Democrats are "merely" authoritarians who 1) have colluded with fascists for decades to secure a duopolistic stranglehold on power, 2) have endorsed many of the same positions, historically, 3) place power above all else, including risking lives by boosting the cred of a literally insane psychopath fascist so they could win in 2016, 4) share many of those fascists views on privacy, personal security, freedom of expression.

Democrats only look good when compared to fascists. Is that really the best we can do?

Vouching for PopOS, which has been my primary OS for years. The only thing I run a Win VM for is the old Forgotten Realms Interactive Atlas & Campaign Cartographer. I suppose I could tinker with Wine, but it tends to be finicky with the latter.

Why is defederation an option when Limit/Mute exist?

In short i just jumped into the whole Mastodon blocking drama and am somewhat disappointed to see it as childish as reddit’s power mod drama. Accelerated by the fact that a Limit/Mute option exist just fine, i wonder why Block/Defederation is an option at all. It only moves power from the user to admins without anything in...

i wonder why Block/Defederation is an option at all.

There are plenty of reasons, but ultimately the idea is that instance owners choose who to associate with and users (if they allow them; some instances are private) can choose whether to be on the instance.

Federation is open in the sense that anyone can create an instance and connect. The intent was never to force everyone into the same pool.

"Admins" are only local admins. Their scope is a far cry from Reddit or Meta admins.

World systems theory woukd suggest that the inner core should have shifted in the 21st century to include at thd very least China. Western powers may have been dominant in the mid to late 20th century but that is decidedly no longer the case; China fits every metric offered by the theory.

I doubt OP meant that anyway, given that their statements were directed at individual actors and not national powers.

Regardless, expressing concern because an app that both has ties to an authoritarian regime AND is effectively banned in that regime is understandable. Screaming RACIST at anyone who dares criticize China and calling them Anglos is both ridiculous and racist itself.

Or you know, vote for someone who wouldn't support it in the first place...which you could do if the DNC didn't collude with fascists to keep alternative voices silenced.

It's interesting how wilfully ignorant people get when the data doesn't support their candidate. I should be angry, but at this point it's become so comical that I have to laugh.

Objectively, he has been a mediocre president whose most impressive victories have stemmed from the fact that the economy was already recovering from a worldwide pandemic. His handling of the withdrawl from Afghanistan was an appalling travesty that got countless innocents killed, his two-faced positions on Gaza (lamenting the human rights abuses while cutting aid and supplying weapons,) the fact that the interest rate for home loans has skyrocketed in an already difficult to afford housing market, and quite honestly, his racist and homophobic past make him difficult to swallow.

Reducing a systematic campaign of ethnic cleansing to an "international policy" is gross.

Incels using a word offensively does not make the word inherently offensive, and by letting them reframe the word in their favor you're giving them power they do not deserve.

When using male/female to denote biological sex, the words should not be offensive. "Were you born malr or female" in a medical settting can be vital to treatments, for example.

Generally, though, people ought to be using gender.

Hopefully they fix it faster than the "email from the mobile app sends before saving the last live copy, truncating the email" issue they've been having for nearly a year and the "installing the VPN client on Linux will utterly break non-VPN connections" that has been plaguing Linux users since at least 2021.

I was an early adopter of Proton. Their new attitude of "features, not fixes" has me looking elsewhere.

Story killed gaming? Nah... story-driven games are what took games out of the basement and into the mainstream. One can only make so many "I have a gun / sword and I kill the things" games before it gets repetitive.

Concur. Larian is a breath of fresh air in a field saturated with pay-to-win, monetized, microtransaction nonsense. I'm not convinced they haven't traveled across dimensions to restore fun and sanity to a hobby that has been all but ruined by greed and laziness.

It shows nothing of the sort.

There was approximately a zero percent chance, statistically, that the superdelegates would vote for anyone beyond Biden. There was nearly no chance that a challenger would have been received with anything but contempt. This "logic" is the same logic both Reps and Dems use to gaslight third party challengers, too. "If you try real hard you can overcome our utter control of the debates and privileged position to win! We promise!"

Alternately, there WAS a choice and the vast majority of Democrats are okay with a candidate who is 100% okay cutting off aid to the victims of ethnic cleansing. I prefer to hope that that isn't the case.

A slight majority of American support it. I, for one, do not. The margin of error is terrible and the govt is all too willing to cover up its mistakes.

I've played through a few times. Before you leave Act I, there is an explicit warning that doing so will close out story-based quests that are incomplete. Having said that, it only closes out the main story quests for the most part; I've gone back to do side quests frequently. Act I doesn't truly lock until you've unlocked the end of Act II.

That seems consistent with actual tabletop D&D; ignoring a time sensitive quest may net negative results.

I like women but I also like cock but I'm not otherwise attracted to the male body at all. Wtf is my sexual orientation? AITA?

I like women. I like the shape and curves of the female body. I like boobs, I like asses, I like pretty vaginas. I also appreciate and am aroused by a nice cock. I’m however not otherwise attracted to the male body. I like femboys as long as they have a feminine-like shape and curves, as many of them do....

That healthcare bit hit home. Been trying to get treatment for 9 months. Docs spent a lot of my money doing nothing. I got tired of trusting, read peer journals, put together my own plan using promising options, have the first actual sustained relief I've seen since last May.

$100 OTC versus like $6000 in tests, scans, and fuckery.

I guess it beats the NHS, partner can't even get seen for a fractured vertebrae. "Do PT first."

As soon as the system doesn't shitcall over anyone who isn't the anointed from the elite reds and blues, I suppose. Maybe next run of this simulated world?

Can someone explain to me why Honkai: Star Rail is treated as something other than trash? I keep seeing posts about it, all over.

It’s a free-to-play mobile gacha game. Therefore, it is trash. That point simply cannot be argued. It’s not up for debate. If you’re here to debate that point, please don’t even bother. All mobile games are trash. All free-to-play games are trash. All gacha games are trash. Again: there is no debate about that....

I don't think this weakens my argument at all. It is fact from 1E to 5E, the official maps of Faerun are off by quite a bit. Looking for an in-game explanation isn't unreasonable as the fact that the map distances are off is... well... fact. But don't take my word for it... Elminster's Guide to the Forgotten Realms says the following about maps:

Maps in the Realms are expensive works, being rare, easily damaged or destroyed, and more often inaccurate than not. Large, detailed, good maps are usually owned by rulers, from mayors of cities who have sewer and street maps, up to kings who own large and varied collections of old and fanciful maps from everywhere.

....

Nautical charts tend to be cruder, more inaccurate, and even more precious than maps.

Is Elturel 200 miles as the crow flies from Baldur's Gate, or is it 215 miles from Baldur's Gate? Apparently, even cartographers of the Realms cannot agree.

As someone who is neither centrist nor enamored of either party, it isn't ever "both sides are the same." It's "these two groups actively work together to prevent others from sharing the platform' and 'of all of the possible candidates, these are their best?'

Biden is better than Trump, point blank. Regardless, if Biden is polling poorly, then the Democrats should set aside their pride and pick a candidate that appeals to independents and proper progressives. The Democratic base will vote for whoever the DNC fields, so the real challenge is convincing those swing voters.

Attempting to shame people into voting for a problematic candidate is what got us Trump in the first place. Perhaps its time to listen to those seeking actual change.

Sony's lack of support and transparency here were appalling. I'm not against the idea of digital ownership, but there really ought to be regulations in place to prevent companies... who have an incentive to make you pay again... from denying access to purchased access without clear and convincing evidence of TOS violations.

I'm guilty of relying on digital content, so much so that I'm now exporting my D&D Beyond books to PDF. I have most every sourcebook... it occurs to me that a bad decision on thier part could make those purchases valueless.
