Whether you started with a 2600 and a joystick in your hand, an N64 with a blistered palm or building your first PC in your teens, what is that one video game you've played at some point that to this day sits at the top of your list.
I’ve been considering purchasing a steam deck. My pc is in my office, which limits interaction with the rest of the family if I want to play anything. I’ve tried playing mobile games, but just can’t get use to the controls. Think it’s worth getting one?
Steam Deck got me back into gaming. It has gotten to the point that if I can't play it on the Deck, I won't play it at all. I have a PC, Ps5, and a Switch and the SD has become my primary device. I absolutely LOVE it and it has been one of the best purchases I've made in years
I am. I like here, but I'm getting tired of only discussions about Reddit for the most part. If I want to talk about SBC gaming, steam deck, or the game I'm currently into, all of those communities exist over on Reddit.
It's also annoying how the most active instance (beehive) doesn't allow us to interact with them so there goes that.
@ernest how do I report a Magazin on kbin.social ? There is a usere called "ps" who is posting to his own "antiwoke" Magazin on kbin.social. What really sucks is that it eliminates any sort of trade-in systems. I rarely have the desire to play a game I've already finished, at least I would be able to recoup some of that money towards a new game. There goes that along with lending games to friends

I, like many gamers, grew up playing Pokémon Red and Nintendo 64 and was obsessed with Nintendo products. I agree. I think Reddit is delusional if they think they will be able to successfully monetize what are essentially just forums. Reddit users themselves don't give a hoot about Reddit as a brand, company, or product. They care about communities and being able to have discussions on their favorite subjects. There's no secret sauce proprietary to Reddit at all and people will go where ever everyone else is
I've been thinking a lot about why I decided to come here and I know it started off as a "they can't make me use their shitty app!" while simultaneously using test apps that crash and navigating less content than Reddit. What is the primary motivation for all of this anymore? Is anger enough of a motivation to keep people away...
It is baffling to me the timeline they chose for this. If I were an investor I would see this as complete desperation. What stable company makes these decisions seemingly on a whim?
I saw right when I was going to post this that someone else had already posted something similar, but I thought I'll go ahead and post it anyway as an alternative....

Is anybody else more active here then they were on Reddit?
When I was on Reddit I felt like my opinion didn’t matter. But here it just feels more open and free.

I really like it here. However, almost 90% of my feed is either posts about Reddit, or Lemmy/kbin meta analysis. We need actual content and communities over here!

As a long time Reddit user, there's something about Lemmy and the fediverse that feels really refreshing and new. I think it has to do with a few things......
If Reddit phased out 3rd party apps gradually and tactfully, do you think this would have gone the way it has? The Reddit app is terrible, but is it any worse than navigating and learning the fediverse so far? Be honest.
