JanoRis,

Don't think i ever finished any, i usually get overwhelmed in the endgame i guess. What I have tried so far:

  • Satisfactory (favorite so far, gonna only finish it on full release)
  • Dyson Sphere (good one, great QoL Tools, might come back eventually and finish it)
  • BigPharma (Mediocre)
  • Mindustry (ok)
  • Per Aspera (oh i actually did finish this one, but it's not completely an automation game)
  • Astroneer (couldn't get into this one)
JanoRis,

they will probably just rollback all your comments, like they did already for a bunch of people. though at least that could cause them to have a problem with GDPR and similar data protection acts.

Though I think if you want to salt the earth you could instead bloat up every comment to max comment length, preferably with a funny story about data protection created in chatgpt. This might increase the server space needed for each comment. Maybe even add some disclaimers and stuff that this comment is your intellectual property and editing it without your knowledge and approval makes the site liable to a fine. This probably doesn't stick up in court, but whatever, maybe some employee will still think twice before changing back your comments.

JanoRis,

Also IANAL:
To my knowledge, it is a bit of a complicated topic. But in general the definition of personal information in the GDPR is by design kept really broad.
https://www.gdpreu.org/the-regulation/key-concepts/personal-data/
https://commission.europa.eu/law/law-topic/data-protection/reform/rules-business-and-organisations/dealing-citizens/do-we-always-have-delete-personal-data-if-person-asks_en

I think the moment your account is still active, all your comments can be identified as personal data by your username and falls under GDPR for sure. If your account is deleted/banned it is anonymized so it could only fall under GDPR if the comment contains identifyable information. But anonymization must be irreversible, so I think reddit is not allowed to have any data linking your comments to each other after you deleted your account.

Now what if you edit your comments/delete them and delete your account afterwards (which schould anonymize it).
If they restore your former contents, doesn't that mean that they still have an identifier for your data linking the deleted GDPR protected data?
I don't think EU looks too kindly on stuff like that, they can be pretty strict for consumer data protection and using data like this seems pretty against the original intention of the GDPR.
The Reddit TOS can also say all kind of stuff, but it won't stick if it breaks a higher law instance.

Spez is a person with no foresight and a bad CEO, i think reddit is about to fuck around and find out what happens if you ignore the GDPR.
I don't think there has been a case like this before, where a social media so blatantly misuses consumer data. This might become a pretty big thing and hopefully clarify the rights of the users in the future.

JanoRis,

Afaik some people reported that it restored to their original comment instead

JanoRis,

The increase on the 2nd time is probably through private subs reopening.

JanoRis,

As reddit is turning 18 the next few weeks, I kinda see Spez as an abusive Stepfather, who sells his children into a prostitution ring(IPO).

He doesn't care about the site, once the IPO is over he will just take his moneybags and leave

JanoRis,

Every once in a while in cities, there’s a protest. And I think that’s what we’re seeing exactly right now. We, even in disagreement, we appreciate that users can care enough to protest on Reddit, can protest on Reddit, and then our platform is really resilient enough to survive these things.

Oh yeah and if the authorities just ignore the protests out of greed than your city experiences braindrain. But like the politicians he doesn't care about future problems as long as he can secure his bag of greed

JanoRis,

From the sheer size:

X-Beyond the Frontier

JanoRis,

though how many of these are duplicate accounts?

I myself have one kbin account and one lemmy.world account because kbin was not stable enough the first day and i did hear great things about the lemmy.world stability. I do use both though and also considering opening a feddit account

JanoRis,

isn't it the best to use another instance than beehive, lemmy.world and sh.itjust.works in that case? you will still have access to all other communities. Been thinking of creating another account on feddit, since it is probably too local to get on beehives shitlist and other instances might be reluctant to just block out a whole country community

JanoRis,

So every kbin user could have 4 Lemmy accounts ;)

tchambers, to RedditMigration

organizers aren't fooling around and many have shifted into full on scortched earth on Reddit and to mode:

JanoRis,

@tchambers
oh nice, this already kinda describes what i want to have, by replacing all posts with gibberish.

But i think it would be funnier if a script could take each comment as gpt input and bloat it up to maximum comment length (would that considerably increase server space?).

Or it could just have several iterations of translating the comments into random languages and dialects until the original comment info is also gibberish. Gotta go with the times you see

JanoRis,

you can get both on Sale on Steam (no end date shown?) and Epic (until tomorrow) for ~55€ already.

On Epic you can even shave off a little bit more if you buy each item individually since than you can use the 25% coupon from the sale on the base game.
The coupon doesn't seem to apply to the DLC. In the end it only reduces the price to ~52.50€ compared to the regular sale

JanoRis,

I'm still staying dark for the moment and waiting for my GDPR request first.
If i delete my account i will probably first use a shredder to remove everything from the site first.

Though i have been thinking:
It would be nice if there was one of these comment shredders, that instead edits all my posts to have max comment size.
Would that bloat up the required server space if enough people do this?
Maybe even have ChatGPT take my comments as an Input and bloat them up to max comment size while falsifying the original information

Dunno...I think that could be fun

JanoRis,

so if i want to try out fedia.io or lemmy.world i will have to make a new user account on those sites or can i just use my kbin login?
I tried login in there but it just loaded eternally
