Why YSK: When you cook meat, any water on the surface must first evaporate before much browning can occur. You want to get as much of a Maillard reaction as possible in the limited cooking time you have before the meat reaches the correct internal temperature. Removing the moisture first means that the heat of the cooking...

Yes! I never know how to feel about being prompted for a tip when I get carry out. Normally the tip is for table or delivery service. I don't think I should be obligated to compensate someone's wage for running my credit card and handing me a bag.
It is is 100% the case that establishments know customers will feel obligated to tip in any scenario they are prompted.
Hell, how do I even know that such a tip goes to the service staff who are paid less than minimum wage?
The Relay dev thinks they can make a subscription model work. Last I checked they still hadn't determined pricing, but they were hopeful that it would be about a 60/40 split for them/the API. I'm skeptical it will work out that way, I have a feeling most of it will just go to reddit.
But the app will continue to work for the next few weeks before the subscription kicks in while the dev works out the details.
I have high expectations for Creation Engine 2. Bethesda got a lot out of the original. I have no doubt that they've taken their time with Starfield and The Elder Scrolls 6 just to make sure this engine is ready for them.
As hyped as I am for Starfield, I can't help but think that it's basically a massive scale beta test for Elder Scrolls 6, just to make sure all the kinks are worked out before they release the successor to Skyrim.
Whether you started with a 2600 and a joystick in your hand, an N64 with a blistered palm or building your first PC in your teens, what is that one video game you've played at some point that to this day sits at the top of your list.
I love making efficient systems and the freedom to do things the way I want to, such as by using the game's alternate recipe system.
The exploration and movement systems in the game are also to notch. It's not quite Titanfall, but I struggle to think of any other game where simply moving around is so fun. That's on top of how pretty the actual environment is to explore.
I've just rediscovered my childhood Gameboys, I grew up in the 90s and had an original, a color, an advance and an sp. My game collection has whittled down over the year to the usual suspects, Pokemons, Zelda's, Mario's and some other standards. But I want to dive into some games that 7 year old me would have brushed over. So...
I can't believe I'm the first person to mention Link's Awakening in this thread. Still one of my favorite Zelda games. It's bizarre quirkiness felt just like all the strange aberrations that manifest in dreams.
2023 is shaping up to be one of the best years for gaming in ages. From Tears of the Kingdom to Diablo IV to Street Fighter 6, it's already been a pretty great year, with quite a few big-budget releases coming later this year...
My wife and I have already dumped probably 300 hours into Act 1 in Early Access. I'm worried about what's going to happen to us when the full game comes out.
I saw an article for Star Wars Outlaws and it made me think of all the SW video games I've played over the years, starting from the original SW console game to X-Wing Alliance to Jedi: Survivor...
I felt like their 2018 album, Vaxis I, was a big return to form for them (and loved it), very similar to Apollo I.
Vaxis II was weird for me until I realized what it was, because it was a departure from Vaxis I's return to older Coheed form. I realized Vaxis II is Coheed's equivalent to Van Halen's Jump. Less guitar forward, with a larger focus on keyboard work.
I definitely agree with /u/ThePillarOfSummer though, pretty much any Coheed fan would like the last few songs on this album.

The only part of my factory that should be impacted is my temporary oil setup in the desert crossroads, so I'm probably going to keep on the same world after I update. I'm probably going to wait for the stable release later this summer though.

It's a cinematic trailer, so we probably shouldn't look too much into it, but there was a cool shot that showed bridges being constructed over the city streets. I wonder if they will add a focus on verticality in the new game.
A bit bummed to see the ambiguous 2024 date. I hope we're still not 18 months away from the release.
