What I don't understand is this. The person owns the bookshop and is complaining about what is on the shelves.
Aren't they in charge of what they stock?
If they feel so fervently about this why are they stocking (and I assume selling) these books that offend them so much?
If you feel this strongly, empty your shop of all those works that offend you and only stock things that meet you approval and stop your bitching online about something you control...

When we were going into a business that had failed the question was "Are the idiots, criminals or both?"
One highlight:
A boat sales / marine business goes bust. When we arrive with the paper work and seize the place there are about a dozen new boats on the lot worth several million. We change the locks on the gates.
Arrive the next day, the gates have been busted open and several million in boats are now missing. We look up the addresses of the owners (one of them lives on acreage) and drive to their property...from the road we can see the boats stashed there. Really smart guys.
So we call the police. Someone inside notices use there and decides to flee with one of the boats, it is huge but they think they can get away.
We then have the slowest car chase in history as we calmly follow this guy towing a boat on a trailer down the road while talking to the cops to meet us.

China splashes money at developing countries they have little or no ability to repay.
The money is spent contracting Chinese construction companies to build infrastructure projects of dubious relevance and value.
So, China loans the money, which returns to China via Chinese construction companies and the countries are left holding the bill.
I doubt the CCP ever actually expected to be paid back but will hold the outstanding loans over the country's heads as leverage.
I also expect that some of the countries involved never had any intention of paying back the loans and are playing the CCP for idiots. Once things get worse internationally they will nationalise the projects and tell China to go fuck themselves with the west's tacit support and backing.

TLDR: Dogs use body language. smell etc to gauge wether another dog is friend or foe. When a barrier (like a fence etc) stops this assessment, they go straight to aggression as a defence/protection measure.
My guess is it a similar thing in humans.
We are stripped of our usual communication and threat assessment of the other person we would have in a normal encounter. We can't see their face, their body language etc etc. So if someone is prone to anxiety and/or aggression (two sides of the same coin), they jump straight to "That driver is a cunt who did that on purpose and to spite me".
Edit: This is also why I think online discussions so often turn into insult ridden shit fests.
I’ve seen so much stuff on what it means and how it affects people but I can’t find anything on the reason behind why anyone wants to shut down the government
I would note that the USA is about the only place this is actually possible.
In pretty much all other democracies, if the parliament fails to pass the budget bill, it triggers a dissolution of both houses and an election is held.

Everything successful fb has done in more than a decade is copying or acquiring competitors.
Zuck has spent a few years setting $36,000,000,000 on fire building secondlife2, that nobody wants. The stock is down 25% in the last 2 years.
facebook is like google, both are advertising companies at their core. They both leveraged one idea to serve adds really well and have failed to produce anything new in house since.
