RandoMcGuvins,

Audiobooks with earphones? There's wispersync so your progress matches across devices. It's also much cheaper to buy an audiobook if you have the epub/mobi/kindle version

I use a version of this, it's based on the neti pot from india. Completely natural technique and does more than clearing our your sinus. It also stops any post nasal drip, Globus (lump in the throat) and can help with snoring.

I use flo sinus flush

I've never had chicken and waffles and this point I'm too scared to ask an American why this isn't a classified as a sandwhich as well.

RandoMcGuvins,

Hahaha. That's pretty good reminds me of my early installs.

Edit: Just saw the original, much better!

RandoMcGuvins,

Dam, every page of my mags have you on it saying something controversial. What's going on? Looks like you've still got the reddit mentality of trying be the loudest.

Only having a report option will drown the very limited mods we do have. A lot of the communities are new and still finding their voice.

RandoMcGuvins, (edited )

I don't downvote you on sight only anything I disagree with. I don't follow you but I do see you on our shared mags. I call you controversial as you're almost always taking an abrasive and antagonistic approach. Not always with what you're saying but also how you say it.

Yes I upvote my own comment. I think that's a sane default kbin should have along with notifications on.

Edit: You make these great thread titles but how you further express your ideas isn't great.

RandoMcGuvins,

Too bad spectators like you are only here to downvote in disagreement, not giving any input.

A downvote is an input to the conversation, that's the point of the downvote. Not everyone wants to write an essay or argue with someone. Also what's the point of reiterating someone's else point, that's what the upvote is for.

You try to boost your score, everyone can see it, almost no one else do that. Have you tried not upvoting yourself?

Was my last comment boosted? You replied within ~10mins. But you're not wrong upvoting your own comment is a reddit hangover of having your own post automatically self upvoted. I still think it's a sane default. It's not about boosting my comments for visibility and rep points. Why would I upvote the only comment on a comment chain for visibility? If I was concerned about rep points, I would be commenting and posting more.

You almost always post/coment with an antagonistic approach. You're also so abrasive with how you communicate that it almost asks people "verbally" spar with you. I'm not just talking about this thread.

I think, I understand that you see all of this just as a conversation. I also respect that you don't downvote other people's comment that you disagree with. But dam everytime I see you, you're almost asking anyone to argue with you.

Edit: still learning how to format properly.

RandoMcGuvins,

Is that what you want, a conversation to end with a block? I thought this whole post and your further comments have been about active vs passive engagement.

I don't think you've said anything that deserves a block. I disagree with what you've said and how you've said it. However, not once have you personally attacked or insulted me.

Edit: grammar

RandoMcGuvins,

Nice, how hard was it to compile the list? Also would be good if you defined the currency.

RandoMcGuvins,

The 2nd article goes into more details

"Ultra-processing degrades the internal structure or “food matrix,” the complex internal structure that not only holds the corn together, but influences the bio-availability of the nutrients, how our bodies use the food and whether we feel full after eating it."
...
"But the process also appears to accelerate the speed at which our digestive tracts absorb glucose and other nutrients from food, causing greater spikes in blood sugar and insulin levels, studies show."
...
“"Extrusion cooking at very drastic pressures and temperatures is a kind of predigestion of your food,” said Anthony Fardet, a nutrition scientist at the French National Institute for Agriculture, Food, and Environment who studies the effects of food processing on health."

I also agree that a study of 20 adults is absurd.

Can you become clumsier over time?

Is it possible to start out at, let's say, 20 years and be sharp as a knife. Never forgetting things, never dropping things, always have an answer ready and can do multiple things at once. And then around 30 you suddenly drop stuff you have in your hands, you forget if you locked the door, your contactlenses have gone missing...

RandoMcGuvins, (edited )

I'm late 30s. I've slowed down a lot since my 20s. Reflexes aren't anywhere near as sharp, I use to have very quick hands and reflexes. As far as memory, I'm still good at remembering things that I care about but it's far from the steel trap it use to be. For stuff that's not things that I care about I have to write it down, I'm still pretty good but I forget stuff now.

RandoMcGuvins,

Came here to recommend Everspace 2 and Elite Dangerous. I grabbed ED on a special for $20 and I've done about 200hrs. The freedom in Elite Dangerous is crazy.

RandoMcGuvins,

Just steal the image and put the source in the body text. That way you're not redirecting everyone to reddit. Sort of defeats the purpose of the protests.

RandoMcGuvins,

There's a lot of extras there that wouldn't make it an eggs benedict. I think eggs florentine is basically eggs benedict with spinach but without the the bacon/ham. This is also how I would make it at home, I like that it's not swimming in hollandaise and has greens so you can pretend to be healthy. I'd be so happy to eat this for breaky!

RandoMcGuvins,

Yep Braising is the way. It's amazing for tougher cuts. I do a brisket ragu 160oC for 4-6 hrs, a parchment paper lid and uncovered for the last 2 hrs. A dutch oven isn't necessary, I sometimes use a stewpot or a chef's pan.

RandoMcGuvins,

The term is "reverse searing". Sear the meat on the highest heat generally done on the stovetop, then get it to the ideal internal temp at a lower safe temp (generally done in the oven).

RandoMcGuvins,

I did a great pebkac. I got a new fridge so I used my IR heat gun to test temps. It was high, way to high. Got service guy out under warranty. I showed him the issue. Deadpanned he takes the IR heat gun out of my hands, moves it closer to the fridge and says "you're too far away. It's pickup up the air temp from outside the fridge.". Sure enough it read perfect temps when it was closer.

Thankfully the door alarm speaker was faulty so it wasn't a completely wasted trip.

Is it okay if I ask a hardware questio here? Don't want to make a reddit account again, lol. Help upgrading Thinkpad T490 panel.

Ok, I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to hardware stuff. I have a Thinkpad T490 with the 1920x1080 non-touch screen. My complaint is that I ended up with the model with only 45% NTSC. I would like to upgrade to something with 72%....

RandoMcGuvins,

If the pins match then it shouldn't be a issue. It should be like changing your monitor. In saying that I've not done this so take it with a grain of salt.

Are there no other major fast-paced COD-style multiplayer FPS anymore?

I've always liked the CoD formula, but unfortunately paying 70€ for the latest MW2 to play something so basic seems not worth it, especially when said game will be abandoned next year. I tried searching on the Steam store, but it feels like there are no serious alternatives on this market. Anyone has a good suggestion that...

RandoMcGuvins,

I've been playing Shatterline it's Free to Play and pretty solid.

Best VPNs

My subrsiption with surfshark is ending soon and I was wondering if there was something better around the same price. There are a lot of ads about many VPNs but a lot of them don't look so "safe and private" as they want you to think so it's hard to really figure it out. I don't want to spend too much since I don't use them very...

RandoMcGuvins,

I use PIA, it's cheaper than Mullard. The deal I'm on is about half the price of Mullard and I paid it yearly, I've been on it for 4ish years. PIA has a great cli tool and I've had no issues with split tunnelling or port forwarding. They had an independent audit recently and it went well.

RandoMcGuvins,

Reddit feels like people are yelling to be heard. Kbin feels like a conversation. I'm also impressed with how chill kbin is.

I miss the niche communities but until they are made I can post to the main mag.

RandoMcGuvins,

I haven't seen that vid in ages, didn't expect it here.

RandoMcGuvins,

A lot of good options above. I have only viewed r/modcoord to give my 2 cents and do my sub's blackout polls. I did it via Apollo instead of desktop, didn't know any other way to show support.
