This is awesome! As much as I love tiny boards, huge ones are great too

They do not understand that they don't need to understand the structure of the fediverse to join, enjoy content and engage with others, so they don't even start.

I think this is the biggest issue. People get so worried about how it works that they don't even try it out and get to see that it's actually pretty simple and works pretty much the same as reddit

Thanks for the suggestions, I just added them to the list

Works great, thanks for making this! Only issue is that you need to click the collapse button twice when collapsing the child of a top-level comment when they're collapsed by default.

I've made /m/kbinStyles for all custom styles and userscripts, and added yours to the list over there. I'd love it if you join and share other scripts you create :)

Glad to see you've made the move to kbin! I'm happy I won't miss out on the obscure stuff that people find

Same here. Honestly, it looks like it's the space game I've wanted to play my whole life. I can already see myself spending hours customizing my ship and building outposts

artillect,

I just created /m/kbinStyles for this. I've been working on a custom theme and js script to help improve my experience, and having a place to put all of that could help us collaborate!

Tbh I don't really like the look of squabbles. I think what they're doing with the comments is kinda cool, but the layout just doesn't work for me

I'm glad I chose it! I also considered getting /dev/tty, but I decided to go with Susuwatari because my previous board already had a light color scheme. I love the profile, it feels so nice to type on

artillect,

I think it is, with a 40% you only have to move your fingers at most one key in any direction, so I don't have to move my hands all that much. If you really wanna get ergonomic with your layers, you can put your number row and symbol layer on the home row so you can move even less. My keymap has a numpad on my numbers layer, which makes it really easy to type in my pin or input data into a spreadsheet

I think I didn't let them dry enough after cleaning it, they're normally not that shiny lol. I also missed a bunch of little specs of the wipes I used to clean it off, I should've given it another blast of canned air

I dig the look of MTNU, that's a cool profile I haven't seen before!

Super fun game, I should finish it sometime

Today is the @LRRMTG Lord of the Rings Pre-Prerelease event, but since @Graham_LRR sucks at using hashtags, no one other than those who are directly following him are aware of it.

I'm helping him out and attaching some hashtags so it actually shows up in people's feeds.

(I'm teasing, Graham. Mostly. Okay, maybe only a little.)

@Graham_LRR

Hashtags help out a lot on kbin too, the communities there can aggregate posts from Mastodon based on tags. A few of the other alternatives I checked out also had a bunch of tag filtering options too, definitely seems like it might help out in general

I've been working on a sort of post-postapocalyptic world, set a few hundred years after civilization collapsed due to some unknown event. There's bits of sci-fi and paranormal stuff, and it's definitely strongly inspired by the SCP Foundation, but it draws elements from other places too.

I've been working on writing the backstory for one of the AI superintelligences that crops up, and I think I've come up with something cool for this one. It was originally built by the US government to spy on the world and predict acts of terrorism (sorta like Person of Interest or Watch Dogs). After the collapse of civilization, it went insane over the next few centuries because it stopped receiving inputs from the outside world. Eventually, it achieves superintelligence through iterative self-improvement, and manages to reconnect itself to the outside world that has now been mostly rebuilt.

So, the world has been basically completely rebuilt back up to the level right before the collapse, with some new advancements in different areas. The collapse is basically just a plot device for creating a solarpunk society with slightly different technology and completely different politics. Right now I'm handwaving the (relatively) quick recovery away with the advanced technology that already existed, and with government efforts to resettle in major population centers.

The collapse happens sometime in the late 24th century, so the tech would be somewhat advanced. Since all of our easy-to-access resource deposits have been consumed, they have to scrounge up and recycle parts very efficiently, which I think would result in a much more efficient, and less wasteful world.

I plan to keep it hiding in the shadows, nudging events in different directions, but it could be cool to have it become sort of deified by different groups.

The boost button bumps the post to the top of the active queue, IIRC
Pinging @Haunting_Tale_5150 too so they see this

You can sort your front page by "top", "hot", "newest", "active", and "commented". Active uses a similar algorithm to hot, but it sorts by most recent activity.
