This is quite possibly the least reassuring video @anderspuck has ever made, but it might also be the most important.

"Navalny had many words that would never make him a friend of , no matter how valiantly he would stand in opposition to Putin.

And we can have different opinions on his personality, but it is without a doubt that his decision was not an easy one, and one that requires character."

Gosh, this is interesting - not just Europeans who see Action as important it seems

"While Republican supporters recognize that most Republicans support climate change policy, they may be discouraged from expressing their support due to an information environment disproportionately portraying Republicans as opposed to climate change action."

My favourite quote:

"The substitution of simplistic stats for physical understanding provides an opportunity for all kinds of shenanigans."

Can't help feeling that is applicable to many situations outside of too..

"by 2050, 10% to 47% of Amazonian forests will be exposed to compounding disturbances that may trigger unexpected ecosystem transitions ... inherent complexity of the Amazon adds uncertainty about future dynamics, but also reveals opportunities for action... a combination of local efforts to end deforestation and degradation and to expand restoration, with global efforts to stop greenhouse gas emissions."

How close is to a . Nice review

What deep held flaw is built into the human psyche that we would prefer to consider the monstrous technologies of rather than cut any fossil fuel use?

I first met Geir Moholdt in Svalbard in 2005 when we were both PhD students at . Now we're both at this high level meeting for the panel, still talking about glaciers.
behind his title slide shows in summer, not much snow left, a terrible sign for a glacier, confirmed by red blobs that show thinning rates since the 1930s. Since 2011 the glaciers of Svalbard on average have lost half a metre per year!

Map of Svalbard, red shows thinning glaciers

Not sure what the message is here tbh - perhaps that you'll keep meeting the same people over and over again, so build good relationships.

Or maybe that the ice will keep melting until we get global temperatures down.

This is a really important point from Andreas Kääb : is partly a question of definitions - and different definitions are used even within the scientific community.
The are likely tipping elements, but we're really not sure about all of them!!

High impact, high uncertainty is not a good combination..

often underestimate the importance of the WMO - it's not as visible to us as IPCC say and the focus has long been on but is very much built on the infrastructure of - the in-situ observations, the satellites and the numerical models originally developed for forecasting.
