@dansup @pixelfed Even the API documentation for Pixelfed looks nice. 😆

So what instance is everyone joining? I primarily use Reddit for and stuff.

@developerjustin I’m using BeeHaw, but note that they only allow upvotes if that’s an issue for you.

Check out Kbin, too. Not Lemmy, but federated with it.

So Apple is putting some version of blogging into the OS?

box464,

@J12t Yep, calling it Apple Journal. I didn't quite catch if there would be an Developer API for it..if so....exciting!

Ooooh web apps y'all.

box464, to random
@box464@mastodon.social avatar

Any devs that work with both and repos? How are y'all setting up to work between projects on the different sites?

I feel like the simple solution is to create two OS accounts on my Mac and switch between them, one is "Codeberg" work and the other is "GitHub" work.

Or...push everything to GitHub and have it sync over to Codeberg? That seems to completely defeat the purpose.

Or maybe I'm making this too complex. That's been known to happen.

box464,
@box464@mastodon.social avatar

@jonafato @cbielstein Figured it out. Wasn’t paying attention to the dialogs along the top of VS Code. After entering the URL of a non-public repository on CB, it prompted me for a username and password but the prompt looked mostly the same so I thought it wasn’t responding. Entered CB credentials and could pull and push.

Making it more difficult that it actually was. Thanks for responding!

I was headed down this route, but VS Code made it much easier.

Is it me... or is #Mastodon really quiet these days?

box464,

@liztai In the US, kids are getting out of school, graduations, etc. I've been writing about and researching other areas of the fediverse out of curiosity myself. As @dragfyre said lots of interest in other platforms right now.

Continuing my discovery of AiScript and Calckey Plugins with a new entry - “Lister”, which adds post actions in your timelines for adding accounts to your lists in a few clicks.

Check out the end of my blog post for some insights into the development process.

Finally getting stuck into that code review (meant to start last night, but... well you all heard about that already 🤪).

Also, I seem to have completely forgotten when I should put in a Javadoc comment for a class 😅

box464,
@box464@mastodon.social avatar

@tokyo_0 Kind of curious how you test. Do you run an import over and over again on a personal instance? Spin up a new base instance for every test run?

box464,
@box464@mastodon.social avatar

@stepheneb @tokyo_0 Agreed. I enjoy hearing about the process as well. Having a full time job AND a passion project definitely leads to lack of sleep! 🥱 Finding a balance is important but difficult.

RE: Testing - it’s just about what I figured! I do plan on testing myself, when I have a few moments to pull together a plan. Thinking of pulling in an archive of a small account into my main (about 100 posts compared to 1,500).

    @davidgarywood I think you're pretty spot on. Introducing AR chat is the only one I'm not sure about. I mean, you can already have avatars in MS Team and Zoom meetings and absolutely no one uses it that I know of. But maybe that's because it's a work environment. It would need to be amazing.

    When I'm happy to commit something to GitHub, I often forget that ending your commit message with an exclamation point isn't allowed. Gives me a chuckle. GitHub is saying "jeez, calm down". 😆

    git commit -m "Registration Bug fixed...finally!"

    But you can do use single quotes and it works fine.

    git commit -m 'Registration Bug fixed...finally!'

    I guess I should stick to formal boring commits, but this is just for private hobby repos so let me have some fun.

    @radiant shines through in the growing collection of Mastodon apps with the multi-tag timeline feature. It's a breeze to create and view them, and you can pin them right alongside your other timelines for easy access. 🔥

    Calckey Plugins are an overlooked component of the platform. Mostly because documentation is scarce about what they are and how to use them. No more!

    Here's my first post in a series on plugins, introducing the concept and providing a guide to ensure users can make informed decisions about installing plugins they find in the community.

    https://box464.com/posts/calckey-plugins/

    box464,
    @box464@mastodon.social avatar

    The TLDR version: There’s not a lot of plugins out there right now, and we need better documentation for developers to make them. I’m working on it.

    Be wary of installing plugins you randomly find on the internet. A trusted source of plugins is needed with an easier way to install them.
