From years of being bored, unsatisfied, or struggling in various jobs and industries, I finally feel like I have come home.

I'm so happy to join an industry with such brilliant, interesting, and gloriously nerdy people - I mean this in the best possible way!

I have attended both Beyond Tellerrand Düsseldorf and CSS Day 2024 and, wow. Huge thank yous to the organisers, speakers, and to the many warm and funny fellow attendees I had the joy to socialise with.

@sarajw it's been so cool to see your journey. Like you, I made sites in the 90s and dabbled since, I've seen all the changes and it's been wild but I'm a mostly hobbyist at best. But it's been so great to meet everyone involved with it on here and everyone has been so nice 😀

Did anyone build a search engine including only websites without any JavaScript ? (Not a proxy that strips JS — rendering the site unuseable — sites that don’t contain any as is).

That would be wonderful for #retrocomputing .

@santiago killer idea. You may know about https://1mb.club and https://250kb.club which are DIRECTORIES of tiny sites but don't contain a search engine for them as far as I know. 10kbclub appears to be gone but glad these two are still going. I bet there's more like these too.

March of the Goblins starts today in Diablo IV and I know @spytfyre had mentioned wanting to meet up in game. I should be on around 8pm-ish PST (USA) tonight. Starting from scratch, of course. So if you wanna smash some monsters and look out for some supposedly increased amounts of Treasure Goblins, lmk and I can message anyone closer to the actual time I'm on.

Played several hours of Diablo IV with my kid (me necro, him druid) on Thursday night for their new March of the Goblins event and had a blast (and got the free gear/mount for the event) but saw ZERO Treasure Goblins that are supposed to be more numerous and even in groups. Not a single one. And we went all over the map. I've seen similar reports from other folks, too. Pretty weird, Blizzard.

@rootcompute I use YT pretty much 99% just for researching music so I can attest this works haha. And trimming subscriptions to ONLY what you're super into helps too. 😂

Earlier this week I ran across a KILLER death metal album from 1993. For this week's , the fucking MASTERPIECE of a record 'Circle of Evolution' by SCHISMATIC from Poland. Maybe some of you guys know this one already (@djrobotham)?

This is a GREAT no-frills death metal record -- my favorite kind. No samples, no intro. Just riffage, chugging, growls, perfection. Some wild funk bass later on in the tracks. Don't miss this one if you haven't heard it.
