Do you think in the future they'll figure out how to equalize barely audible dialogue vs. deafeningly loud sound effects and action sequences in movies and TV shows so you don't have to turn them up and down constantly, or is that just not something within human ability

@skullvalanche I snore pretty badly I think, probably why I never feel rested when I wake up. One of the reasons I have to let my wife sleep first, it'll keep her up. Breathe Right strips are so crappy. I had a boss who went for the operation, said it hurt so bad, like the worst sore throat he'd ever had. I'd still like to do it someday maybe. I wonder what feeling rested feels like 🤣

Huh I see there's an option to "Block direct messages from people you don't follow" which would save me the spam, buuuut would a normal friendly person know why their DM hadn't got a reply?

I'm thankfully not having to fend off a bunch of unwanted messages, so actually I'd rather people weren't ghosted by me without understanding why. But it'd also be nice to throw the switch to kill off spam DMs...

@ezcontents absolutely. The decline of that platform just forced me here which is fine. Different, I like it here. Miss a few from Twitter but I'm not giving that company even one more minute of my time - the ads were getting unbearable anyway.

My wife does these paid online surveys and they sometimes ask these totally weird, inane questions. Companies are so out of touch with people, they really think we have this strong of relationships with brands and products. It's beyond weird. She's started answering questions like these with hilarious responses when they're this dumb. 🤣

It’s really hard to overstate how acutely dangerous this is: All strands of the Right - leading Republicans, the media machine, the reactionary intellectual sphere, the conservative base - are openly and aggressively embracing rightwing vigilante violence.

So they're saying and justifying that what this former Marine did isn't criminal behavior. It's only when they say it is or they want it to be. Stupid and SUPER dangerous

Properly jaw-dropping moment this evening: an e-mail from my US publisher saying that "since it's a science book", they'll publish Blue Machine WITH METRIC UNITS. So I don't have to convert everything to foot pounds per square elephant. In YEARS of writing for the US, this is the first time I have ever had a hint that there is a world outside feet and inches. Progress!
