We've had a handful of reports of images loading slowly, but we can't reproduce them.

It would really help if we could get some feedback from our lovely users (that's you).

Are you experiencing slow image loading at the moment, or very recently?

@trumpet I have not noticed unusually slow image loading, but I am on LTE or low speed satellite Internet most of the time. I'm not sure if I'm a meaningful vote.

Everyone, please stop saying, "Well, it's not actually AI..." every time someone does a post about AI. We all know what it is, that's just what it is called, and you're gonna have to deal with it. If we ever get actual AI we're gonna call it by whatever name it demands of us. I'm guessing Todd The Overlord, or something like that.

What's your favorite story about one of your family members?

@BlackAzizAnansi my parents, some 40 years ago, moved to Las Vegas for work. Drove from South Carolina.

Somewhere in the middle of the desert, with my dad sleeping in the passenger seat. The car starts driving a little weird, and bursts into flames.

Was probably smoking for a bit, but my parents were hardcore smokers and it was long haul driving. Tried to wake dad up, he yells its probably the sun or something.

Mom pulls over while he's yelling, shows him the fire. Still brings it up.

My hot take on the Vision Pro is the same as my hot take on every AR/VR/Mixed Reality headset produced in the past checks notes 20 years: "If most women can't use your product for 4 hours straight without throwing up, don't try to tell me that it's the future of anything." I said what I said.

Women can use a smartphone indefinitely without nausea. They can use a laptop indefinitely. A gaming console and TV indefinitely. But XR headsets cause motion sickness in most women in under an hour. 🤷🏿‍♂️

@mekkaokereke I'm a trans guy, but post starting testosterone I get much less motion sick on things that used to bother me!

I still almost threw up in the calibration for the Oculus Quest my bf owns, and was able to do 2 minutes of actual use before I did.

Another Question For The Mastodon Trans Community!

What was the moment when you knew you needed to start transitioning (whatever that means to you, I know it's different for everyone)?

P.S. Obviously no one owes anyone answers if it makes you uncomfortable, so please feel absolutely no pressure, or if there's a better way for me to ask this question let me know, I'll edit.

@RickiTarr when I realized lesbian didn't quite fit, and when I had sex I couldn't take my pants off.

That I didn't just think femme guys were cute, and that I was envious of the femme trans guys I saw on the internet. I wasn't repulsed by having sex with cis men, that I was /deeply jealous/ of them having penises.

Getting on antidepressants helped me suss all that out, and I wanted to live, as me, for me. So I started transitioning.

Shout out to five year old me insisting on being on the "boy presents" list in elementary school or not wanting to get any presents ever.

You know, without Web3 NFT bullshit, there was a lost era of decentralized gaming back when it wasn't cost effective to have massive servers for users. Old games which used the host/join system. Hell, just games where one client in a LAN also acted as the server computer. I get it, it's just easier to run all your online interactions through Nintendo, but like... Those old games can still go online, whereas everything else just died. That's sad and we should make that a consideration again.

Is there a good all in one site for stuff like easiest hrt, birth cert changing, mental health care in each state for trans youth? Ideally with comprehensive resources for like voice training etc

Doing my best to help and I'm pretty knowledgeable but I haven't actually done this stuff and a lot of the time it's very specific to how you can get shit done

A pack of goats arrived at San Clemente Island in California in 1875 and became their own unique breed. It took the Navy until 1991 to fully remove the goats from the island (because they were threatening native species)

@anildash my work has! They were purchased before I started, but still recently.

There is exactly 1 in use, for shipping paperwork, despite most of it also being able to be printed via normal laserjet. I believe the reasoning is "still works + they like using it". There are more brand new in box lol
