Correct me, if I'm wrong, but doesn't that change the whole debate here? Only a small part of user base will do that. The majority doesn't know about the , and won't care.

But that also means that there won't be a flood of content/accounts/stuff from Threads here in the Fediverse. For the most part, both will stay separated.

For that makes it substantially easier to moderate for the : They only have to keep an eye on accounts, that opted-in to the federation. (Of course, only if they even want to moderate)

For people (say some journalists), who like and the , but who miss some or large parts of the former user base of , this will create an incentive to migrate to even. There, they have potentially all connections.

If they had hoped for to federate for getting all their connections back, this is a blow. Now they have to hope, that the people on they want to connect with, opt-in to the federation.

But it gives another incentive to and the to advertise itself. Not something, both were especially good in the past, to be honest.

Theoretisch schon, klar. Aber das "Publikum auf " kann ja nur den Teil umfassen, der der Föderation explizit zugestimmt hat. Wie viele werden das wohl machen?
Die meisten dürften sich deswegen sagen, dann doch lieber gleich auf Threads.

Die Sache ist ja, dass "die Community" viel komplexere Meinungen zu dem Thema hat, als die beschriebene Untergruppe behauptet.

Das stimmt natürlich. War so auch nicht unbedingt zu erwarten.

Es ist aber schon bemerkenswert, wer in den vergangenen 12 Monaten hergekommen ist (wir ja mit eigener Instanz), wer nur kurz da war und wer gar nicht gekommen ist, aber jetzt bei der Einführung von direkt dabei war.

Wenn man auch im föderierten Threads nicht automatisch alle (oder auch nur die meisten) Accounts aus dem Fediverse heraus erreichen kann, dürfte das die Anziehungskraft verringern.

Paradox, dass er gefragt wurde, ob man künftig verhindern kann, dass Inhalte aus Threads in einigen der "Jauchegruben bei " landen (gemeint war wohl im ).

Antwort war, dass öfftl. Accounts auf Threads dem Föderieren explizit zustimmen müssen ("opt in"). Das dürfte verhindern, dass es eine Flut an Content aus Threads zu gibt. Eher spricht das für einen Sog, der Accounts zu Threads zieht.

Außerdem hat er noch angekündigt:

  • Antworten aus dem sollen unter Posts auf auftauchen
  • Aus soll man Accounts im Fediverse folgen können und mit denen interagieren können
  • Man soll ausziehen können
  • Das alles wird etwa ein Jahr lang dauern und in Schüben kommen. Man wäre gern schneller, aber das wird wohl nicht klappen.

und das haben also Zeit, um sich dann als bessere Alternative zu zeigen. Wenn man überhaupt will 😉

Well, this is interesting: @heiseonline has much more here on and even more on #X than on or . But if you take that in account, when looking at the visits (just for today), that's a very different picture of visits per follower.
It's very relative of course (in absolute numbers and are still far ahead)!

@stefanfendt @frumble Wieso kann ich die "gar nicht sauber von Direktaufrufen unterscheiden"? Was hier Mastodon ist, ist auch eindeutig Mastodon bzw. noch Fediverse. Die Zahl ist zu gering, aber das ist etwas anderes..

I think, I see about two thirds of the traffic from . Before the preview-issue, it wasn't really growing from months, Twitter was just (very) slowly decreasing:

Again the caveat, that I don't "see" a substantial amount of traffic from Mastodon/Fediverse. It's at least the same as the traffic from Twitter, I think.
