While not a very well-known account, I tried the same thing for a couple of weeks, trying to get people to migrate to #Mastodon.
The #Post strategy, as I remember it, was quite different. The wanted a centralized platform earn royalties for professional writers, was my take on the #DeadBirdSite back then.
This is different. OFC #Elmo would block that!--This would have destroyed the value of the #Twitter acquisition--virtually global reach/a...
Correct me, if I'm wrong, but doesn't that change the whole debate here? Only a small part of #Threads user base will do that. The majority doesn't know about the #Fediverse, and won't care.
But that also means that there won't be a flood of content/accounts/stuff from Threads here in the Fediverse. For the most part, both will stay separated.

Ich glaube, das ist nicht einmal eine Mehrheit. Es sind aber die lautesten und die, die schon vor dem #TwitterTakeover hier aktiv waren.
If you're curious about the set of dog-tags that Elon Musk is wearing while he's smirking and telling people "Go fuck yourself", they're from the IDF.
Haven't seen anyone else report on it yet, but Elon Musk, Twitter's Nazi-meme-posting owner, is wearing dog-tags from the Israel Defence Forces. He's making a visible dog-whistle to show support of Israel's genocide in Palestine.
I'll do it again in #english, maybe it is of interest for others too:
@heiseonline is on of the biggest official accounts on #Mastodon by a german media organization. It's now a year old and I had a look into the ~62k followers. Turns out, that federation in the #fediverse seems to work: Less than a fourth are from mastodon.social, the rest are on more than 1900 different instances.
If you take the creation date of the accounts following @heiseonline, there is a clear peak in the 4th quarter of 2022 (#TwitterTakeover), since then, there is visible stability: More than 5000 follower where created in each quarter.
If you just take the months and limit them to 2022 and 2023, you see the big peak in November (roughly a third was created then) and the slowdon in summer 2023.
The billionaire affirmed the deadliest anti-Semitic conspiracy theory in recent American history.
"The fate of the tiny Jewish community rests in the hands of non-Jewish society. Whether the anti-Jewish ideas of Musk and others become the new normal is not up to Jews; it’s up to everyone else."
#X traffic and monthly active users are in decline
Despite proclamations from X CEO Linda #Yaccarino that usage of the social network was at an all-time high this summer, a new report is throwing cold water
"Although the U.S. accounts for roughly a quarter of X’s web traffic, other countries also saw declines in web traffic, including the U.K. (-11.6%), France (-13.4%), Germany (-17.9%) and Australia (-17.5%)."
Six Months Ago #NPR Left #Twitter. The Effects Have Been Negligible
"Six months later, we can see that the effects of leaving Twitter have been negligible. A memo circulated to NPR staff says traffic has dropped by only a single percentage point as a result of leaving Twitter, now officially renamed X, though #traffic from the platform was small already and accounted for just under two percent of traffic before the posting stopped."
#Germany's anti-discrimination agency quits X over anti-minority posts
@antidiskriminierung said it would close its account on SocialMedia platform #X, formerly #Twitter, because of increasing #intolerance of minorities expressed by users on the site, and urged other bodies to follow suit.
"Other state agencies and government ministries should ask themselves whether it made sense to remain on a [...] a disinformation network"
US ad revenue at Musk's #X declined each month since takeover -data | #Reuters
Monthly U.S. ad #revenue at social media platform #X has declined at least 55% year-over-year each month since billionaire #ElonMusk bought the company formerly known as #Twitter in October 2022, according to third-party data provided to Reuters.
A year after the world's richest man acquired the #SocialMedia platform, a #GamePlan published by a fired #Trump White House staffer provides a clue.
"The three texts were sent on April 4, 2022. In the nearly 18 months since then, many of the decisions #Musk made after he bought Twitter appear to have closely followed that #RoadMap, up to and including his ongoing attacks against the ADL..."
Former head of #Twitter's Trust and Security, #YoelRoth, tells the story how #TFG and #Elmo ended his normal life:
"Backed by fans...#Trump publicly attacked me. Two years later, following his acquisition of Twitter and after I resigned my role as the company’s head of trust and safety, #ElonMusk added fuel to the fire. I’ve lived with armed guards outside my home and have had to upend my family, go into hiding for months and repeatedly move."
"These attacks on internet safety and security come at a moment when the stakes for democracy could not be higher. More than 40 major elections are scheduled to take place in 2024, including in the #UnitedStates, the #EuropeanUnion, #India, #Ghana and #Mexico. These democracies will most likely face the same risks of government-backed disinformation...
... campaigns and online incitement of violence that have plagued social media for years. We should be worried about what happens next."
And for those of you, who have not read the following post/article on why the supposedly "bungled" #TwitterTakeover makes a lot of economic and strategic sense. You just have to think much bigger, like #Elmo and his #authoritarian backers from the US, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and last but not least, China.:
A little bit of #Crowdsourcing thanks to the tool of @themarkup: Has anyone found other sites, that seem to be also throttled by #Twitter? Any ideas?

It’s the book Musk would have written himself.""
