Can any fedi friends point me in teh right direction? I wanna get into building synth circuits- oscillators, filters, etc but don't know where to start. Are there any good resources for teh basics of this sort of thing?

There are a few peer tube channels that look in to electronics projects

There are some good books by people like RA Penfold too.

NE 555 is a timer chip (8 pin) very versitile, LM 386 is audio amp and I think its LM741 which is a comparator.

Happy to try and help further, not sure what level you are at, but I am assuming you are not a total beginner so know what capacitors, resistors etc are.

Friends, if Microsoft tries to squeeze you to buy a new computer to run version 11 when every new version of Windows gets worse and adds ads then please consider that more than 100 million people use Linux on their desktop computer, including people who make all sorts of projects with videos, illustrations, digital photographs, laser cuttings, animations, paper media, CAD, CAM, 3D printed stuff, circuit boards, etc.
Will it be exactly the same as Windows? No.
Can it be awesome? Yes.

I I run a group at my local library, we have been contacted for some help on CAD and 3d printing, so I may see if I can tap in your expertise to help him. He has installed freeCAD but says some of the videos are confusing.

Agreed, I am all for promoting FOSS, however first question should be what do you use your computer for, that way you can advise which distro / software is best for their need.

Linux Mint just works, granted it does use non-free firmware etc. However, from helping a new user perspective let's get people up and running, if people are happy with the distro, can do their work we are a good way there to keeping them on FOSS software.

    It is going to be interestng WHO joins this coalition Isreal does or does not plan to create, so far even the USA has said it won't get involved. No one in the world wants escalation.

    I had a discussion earlier, and asked about the status of a consulate, it seems I was kinda right on the fact a consulate is part of the country it belongs to, so the Iranian consulate in syria is part of Iran, therefore the attack on the Iranian consulate is an attack on Iran. If this is correct under international law, it was unlawful to attack, (regardless of who the target was) so in addition the response from Iran was probably legal and justified (self defense maybe).

    Netanyahu is getting more and more dangerous, even the people of Isreal see that, if the UK carry on supporting Isreal and maintaining the current narrative it will end up also breaching international law, even if we decide to also leave the ECHR we have obligations under other international laws set by other bodies, which are still going to be in place.

    What I am trying to say here is the west has managed to take out enemy combatants without managing to kill thousands of innocent civilians in the process, the US and UK understand we cannot do that under international law.
