It would perhaps be good if the various free software projects to do this worked together a little more to produce one GOOD solution, once we have that we can coordinate efforts to make other solutions that will interoperate.

Small teams can only do so much, several small teams combined in to one bigger team with the same focus surely could work better.

Netehyahu is hell-bent on invading Rafah, when that happens and the body count skyrockets there are going to be a LOT of people with questions to answer, the protesting students will say "told you so" as with many others.

Netanyahus government just shut down the @aljazeera office in Israel, I guess that is one way of controlling the media and ensuring only certain stories get out.

As a few seem to have pointed out, in clear violation of international law, the fact western governments do not seem to have condemned this, is rather worrying.

It is really quite pathetic that both our main parties have so little vision, so little ambition, that they can only view working 'til we drop (dead, preferably) as a valid societal model & every "solution" they see is around preparing young people for this ("more resilient") or browbeating ill and disabled people until they have a damascene revelation about their difficulties and give up on sorting out their health or trying to have any quality of life

Where's my sci-fi future of leisure?

Truly spectacular how universities "couldn't do anything" about literal Nazis giving speeches [and leading to actual violence including shootings] but they're now banning students (including many Jewish students) from their grounds for being "antisemitic", and just casually ruin their lives.

How is free speech you disagree with, different from research results you disagree with, take the Bohr orbintal model of atomic structure, this has been refined as people questioned that model and have made improvements to how we model electrons moving aroud a nucleus.

We need to ask questions and think critically about things and explore other ideas and explanations.

Dear I'd like to create a interactive prototype, nothing complicated, just a simple slider than when I move it, animates a range of simulated LEDs (about 100 of them). My first through was Processing but I'm open to other suggestions.

My issue with any choice is the start up cost, it's usually quite tedious to get started before I can get to the fun part. Any suggestions?

You may be able to do that with Arduino or Raspberry Pi Pico (or any Raspberry Pi) and neopixels (which I think are strips of Led lights and a potentiometer so when that is turned the number of LEDs that come on is bound to the position of the potentiometer (POT.

Pots can be either rotary or linear I think in terms of their physical appearance.

Friends, if Microsoft tries to squeeze you to buy a new computer to run version 11 when every new version of Windows gets worse and adds ads then please consider that more than 100 million people use Linux on their desktop computer, including people who make all sorts of projects with videos, illustrations, digital photographs, laser cuttings, animations, paper media, CAD, CAM, 3D printed stuff, circuit boards, etc.
Will it be exactly the same as Windows? No.
Can it be awesome? Yes.

I think the closest we have to video editing is Kedenlive, as for book design, I use |LaTeX for most of my documents. I do understand they are probably not the best solution here though.
