How do I add a profile picture on Kbin Mobile?

BUSTANUTELLA,

How would I go about transferring ownership of a magazine to someone else? I've made one for one of the subreddits I follow, hoping to get people to migrate, but I want to hand the reins over to the mod team from the other place.

fnoop_joop,

When will we get built in video support? I've been missing that when trying to post to my own magazine.

Is there a way that we will be able to hide posts once we have viewed them?

doopboop,

@ernest Lower case URLs are returning 404 errors for magazines with capital letters. For example https://kbin.social/m/PCGaming and https://kbin.social/m/pcgaming should both load PCGaming. Right now /m/pcgaming results in a 404 error. Just something to consider.

JollyRoberts,

Is there a "don't show read threads" option somewhere? I looked around the settings but did not see it anywhere...

Dunno if this is better suited to the codeberg page, but is there any scope for including a 'favourited' tab on profiles? I've "upvoted" quite a few posts and comments, but notice I only have a history of things I've 'boosted'.
I understand that a boost is essentially an upvote, whereas a favourite is more like a 'like', but if that's the intended purpose, should we not have a history of favourited items? Especially given the term, if we're going back to when browser bookmarks literally used to be called favourites, it would be nice to see everything we've favourited.

On the first page is usually set on "local" and to see the federated content you have to switch to "all".

On it's (often?) the opposite. To switch to local content, select "Federation status: OFF" in the sidebar (federation icon, near the settings one).

QHM,

I was trying to use the Kbin API to familiarize myself with it's data structures and begin contributing to the repo. However, the api doesn't seem to be available. Is it supposed to be down? Is there a timeline for it being back up?

ludeth,

Since everyone is joining kbin.social can I just host my own kbin server on my homelab? Does that help? Should I get others to join it? Im so new to this but it seems exciting. If I self host.. how do I find other content I want to look at? Is there an activityPub search or some such?

yaga36,

I am probably being stupid but how can I see comments on a thread iOS mobile? I can see them fine on iPad but not on my phone.

I can see there are comments by the number but I can’t figure out how to view the actual text

Is there a way to take a post and share it to a different magazine?

Thanks in advance!

Quality of life improvment suggestions.

So far I am really loving kbin. We will probably see some bumps along the road because of the rate it is growing. I am mostly a mobile user but on a browser it works fairly well. I however would like to see a button at the top of the threads that would auto scroll you down to the bottom so you can make a comment. What are some small quality of life changes you would like to see on the site.

Hey @ernest I wish you the best in the coming days, and other than knowing that, I am just dropping a suggestion that you may or may not have already considered.

I see you're using Cloudflare to manage security checks for kbin.social. They also have a product called Waiting Room that might be helpful as your servers become inundated with new users. Yes, they'd get a queued screen, but your servers would be able to stay above water.

Cloudflare Waiting Room Available at the business level at $250 / mo. No long term contract, so you could just use it for June and drop it. I've seen your BuyMeACoffee so I know you might balk at that price. I've thrown some money in the ring, and hopefully others will too, so you can have the options you need to take some of the stress of your shoulders.

Best of luck! I'm already a solid fan and while the hordes beat at your door, I'll be giving kbin a rest. :)

hi all, I hope this is the right place to discuss?

I self-host a couple services on a small VPS (docker behind traefik) and tried to do the same with kbin. But I fail :-( I was proud of myself when I got my mastodon instance running but this here seems even more complicated. Never even heard of some of the services this thing depends on ;-)

Anybody sucessfully got it running via docker (compose)?

Guess I should wait until the dust has settled a bit and @ernest can improve on the documentation.

chf,

I am trying to subscribe the following magazine - https://enterprise.lemmy.ml/c/reddit_memes, but !reddit_memes in the search filed returns nothing. Am I doing something wrong? kbin doesn't have access to all fediverse?

Sorry if it is a wrong place to ask.

BUSTANUTELLA,

How would I step down as a mod or transfer ownership of a magazine? I can't seem to find the option anywhere
